I have the files on an external SD card, in a directory Android/data/com.tomtom.europe with a files folder that contains .metadata.xml and a files folder with all the other files in their directories. I install the apk, run it and it comes up with 'Unable to connect to TomTom'. I then look in the internal memory under Android/data and find the com.tomtom.europe directory which is empty. Is this where I should put the .metadata.xml file? Do I then restart TomTom? If I uninstall it, this directory is taken away so thats not an option.
    Getting frustrated at going round in circles - I hope someone knows a solution

    Hi...

    First read this post from #24 to #42 for same installation....
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    The installation will be on the extsdcard in path: Android/data/com.tomtom.europe

    1. install the apk....and then restart you device..
    2. if is already installed just go settings-> app manager -> TomTom -> and clear the cache memory..
    4. use this empty folder structure for help...... just replace folders..... [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    5. copy com.tomtom.europe folder in Android/data like this: Android/data/com.tomtom.europe
    6. after that go "Android/data/com.tomtom.europe/files/files" <- here place your files.....

    use my own .metadata.xml and attention to . dot......

    Done all that, just can't clear cache - there's always 12 MB of something in there. First error note I get says 'No Internet Connection', I make my wifi active and connected, the next message says 'unable to connect to TomTom', so its clear the tablet isn't rerouting to my external SD card - still trying to find out whats not working.
    I tried moving the app to the SD card, same result . What a shame we can't link directories as per Unix !!!

    You shouldn't have to receive any messages starting the application . This is the reason I believe there's something wrong in your path ......or a mistake in .xml file

    Here's my .metadata.xml file which is located in //mnt/external_sd/Android/data/com.tomtom.europe/files
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8">
    <santorinicontent>
    <contentlist>
    <bundle>
    <bundleid>com.tomtom.europe</bundleid>
    <content_version>15</content_version>
    <min_app_version>1</min_app_version>
    <download>
    <url location="file://mnt/external_sd/Android/data/com.tomtom.europe"/>
    </download>
    <size>0</size>
    </bundle>
    </contentlist>
    </santorinicontent>

    Is this the correct location for the file? Is there anything obviously wrong?
    All help is greatly appreciated

    Bill

    Well, as per your file , what I can suggest is to try this
    <url location="file://storage/extSdcard/Android/data/com.tomtom.europe/files/files"/>
    or:
    <url location="file://storage/extSdcard/Android/data/com.tomtom.europe/files"/>

    Still the same."Unable to connect to TomTom. Please try again later". I'm convinced KitKat doesn't want to use the external SD card

    Hi... my friend..
    you need to clear the cache..
    go to setttings -> app manager ->TomTom and select first force stop and then clear the cache memory...

    The correct position of .metadata.xml is the first folder files...

    you can see here from mr Alfred_ML a screenshot for folder structure...
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    try to change the path: <url location="file://storage/external_sd/Android/data/com.tomtom.europe"/> or <url location="file://storage/extSdCard/Android/data/com.tomtom.europe"/>

    if you have another folder tomtom in inernal or extsd delete or rename....

    Will give it another go - hadn't force stopped when I tried to clear cache.
    File structure on the SD card is EXACTLY as shown in all previous posts on this topic. .metadata.xml is in first files directory
    If Total commander identifies my SD card as 'mnt/external_sd' isnt that what I should use in the .metadata.xml url path?
