In fact, I will buy a new car and I wonder if I have to buy mirrorlink/android auto option. So I can't try for the moment.

Before you buy and app check to see if it will work with what you want to do.

    Do your homework.......

Go to the TomTom site and check.
Check with Mirrorlink app to see what will work with it.

From what I understand is that Sygic is the one that will work this way.

    Car Connectivity is available for:
    • Cars with MirroLink® Radio and smartphones supporting Mirrorlink 1.1
    • Jaguar, Land Rover cars with InControl™ system

Sygic Car Navigation app is compatible with VW vehicles, equipped with Car-Net® App Connect, Škoda vehicles with SmartLink, and Seat vehicles with Full Link. To use Sygic Car Navigation in the dashboard of your Jaguar or Land Rover car please install the Jaguar InControl™ App or Land Rover InControl™ App on your phone.

Plus lots of times new cars come with GPS built in.

Hello tomKater, thank you for your constructive reply.
Actually I do not know if another motorist had flagged before.
I'll probably see on a longer ride.
    Thanks again and good road

On Android Marshmallow, 6.0.1 on my Nexus 7(2013) TT Go 1.8.1(1185) works well; thanks to All.

On Android 5.1.1 on a Vido T99 (a Atom X3;C3230RK , 7" Phablet, GPS) I am unable to connect the standard TT Go after I download from the App Store "the app cannot connect to TomTom.."). Any workarounds? (nothing wrong with my Internet Connection)

Anyone got this to work without login to google market? I get "The app cannot connect to Tom Tom. Check your phone's internet connections."
I'm trying to install on android 4.3, sideloading the original .apk and then the fix3.apk per instruction in first post.
    1. Airplane mode and WiFi turn off
    2. Install original .apk
    3. Run (get failed to connect message)
    4. Uninstall and install fix3
    5. Turn on WiFi
    6. Run (get failed to connect message)

Update: I also tried the following with same problem
    1. Airplane mode turn off and WiFi turn on
    2. Install original .apk
    3. Run (get failed to connect message)
    4. Uninstall and install fix3
    5. Run (get failed to connect message)
