Default Australia Version20 Denso C2 units Map/Software update DVD suit late-model Subaru [not Tribeca]

The Mitsubishi map/software update disc posted here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] will suit all recent [from ~2008] Subaru models, except Tribeca which uses the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] same as earlier model Subaru [pre ~2008].

C2 MMC tested on MY10 Liberty GT.

C1 and C2 discs are not interchangeable.

The C2 disc contains only AU mapping data. The C1 V20 AU combines V9 NZ mapping.

All credits to praxos for C2 V20.

    Hi Neil,

I just read another thread recommending not to ever throw away the original DVD for the sat nav as it has special install files. I have a Tribeca. Unfortunately I did not know this and the burnt disc was working fine until I disconnected the battery for maintenance reasons a month or two ago. Really wishing I hadn't. Does this mean I will not be able to get the sat nav working again? Its giving me the message "insert proper disk" from memory. I'm unsure that me parting with $300 to whereis will fix the issue.

G'day mckaj, welcome to GPSPower. Bleedin' cold in BrisVegas today, brrrr.

Your tribeca and some early Subi models use the C1 version which is predominantly used by Totota/Lexus, all other late-model Subaru use C2 like all Mitsubishi. Tribeca seems to be the only recent model which has a C1 unit fitted.

Your unit doesn't need to see the vehilcle's original OEM disc, any OEM C1 will write the firmware back to the volatile memory but it must be a C1, not C2 disc. The map disc you have is clearly not an OEM. The current V20 posted in GPSPower is an OEM disc i'm sure. It's the second link in the initial post above, this thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Download it and make a new disc and i'm certain it will re-write the fw for you. The other thing you could do is drop into a local Subaru or Toyota dealer and ask them to load an OEM C1 disc. You can then continue to use your map-only disc. But if it's an older version you may as well update to V20 then you'll be protected in the future against losing the vol. memory.

As stated in the initial post, Tribeca uses the C1 disc, same as Toyota. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
