As I can see, this has nothing to do with "Garmin unlocker"

Try renaming original map in device - gmapprom.img, second map - gmapsupp.img and third map - gmapsupp2.img

Hi, I didn't know if this should go in the main folder or here. I downloaded "City Navigator North America NT 2011" before coming here. Upon reading the posts here, one says to unrar and copy Garmin Maps (C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps). Well I first downloaded and installed MapsSource, then upgraded it to 6.16.1, & copied in 6.16.1 Special. Then I unlocked the region using JM15.

The directory for me at %APPDATA%\GARMIN\Maps\ just has an UnlockCodes.ucx file, and no maps or imgs. I could highlight the whole thing (pink) and then transfer it to the device, but I am still confused as to where these IMG files are located.

My original unrar'd City Navigator is out of the way in some temp folder I use for installing stuff. Can I delete that? Should I move it somewhere? I don't know what to move when reading that post. When I look in the Garmin install, it just has a bunch of DLL's. I'd like to clean up my hard drive.

EDIT: As an added question: I seem to have the gmap3d.img, gmapprom1.img, & gmaptz.img files in my download also. Would those be unlocked already? I was able to use GmapTool to read them.

Have you downloaded the gmap folder? It should be
    (in XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Maps)
    (in Vista, Windows 7 - C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\maps)
The gmap folder is the mapsource standalone installation, it contains all the img files mapsource need to display the map in mapsource and it's already unlocked if you downloaded it on Noeman- When you highlight a region in mapsource and transfer it on a device ,mapsource will ask you the drive where do you want it and you'll find the img in the choosen drive-

No. But it did have the JM unlocker with it. I did find the .gmap folder within the All users Documents area. I was looking within my own home directories.

I just tested something. I supposedly have the thing unlocked, assuming Manage Maps is telling me the truth. I tried uploading it, without any problems. However when I turned on the garmin nuvi, it gave me an unlock error.

Crap. I guess I should have dloaded it from here, eh? sucks as I just used up 6 hours of time downloading that.

    live and learn I guess...

EDIT: okay. well I did another test. I removed the unlocked region, and readded another one, making sure to pick the JM 15 ver. with checksum fix. I highlighted one region instead of the whole map. I loaded it up, and it read it fine. I also manually copied the gmapprom1.img that came with it, and it read it fine also.

So I guess I am ok. I don't know why it didn't take it the first time.

    Default speedcam volume

I find the warning sound for speedcams a bit low on the nuvi 1340. Is there any way to increase the relative volume of near POI, please.

I found these infos on the internet (not tested and I donnow if it works on 1340)..try

You can use wav files to get the voice alerts.
Here is how you do it.

a.Download the latest PoiLoader file at
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
    b. Download Sox Exe at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] .
    c. After un-zipping Sox Exe file place it in your Garmin folder where the PoiLoader exe file is located on the computer.
    d. The wav file for alerts will be named the same as the CSV or GPX file except for the extensions.
    e. You can make your own wav files by going to
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
and typing in what you want it to say or use a program to convert mp3 files to wav. When using the conversion it must be saved as PCM, 44.100 kHZ., 16 bit, Mono. Wav files are also on site for download.
Select manual mode on poiloader to set speed or distance for alert.

Under Wrench/System/Simulation, you can enable simulation. Then, tap the screen once to go into browse mode and then drag the map to a point where there are cameras, tap the screen to place an arrow where you want to set your location, and tap the "Set Location" button. Then pick a point well past a camera location, tap the screen to pick a destination and hit GO.

The whole purpose of adding Sox is to be able to use wav files instead of mp3 files (which your unit can't play). So you need to convert your mp3 files to wav.
