    Question Something am missing?

    Any ideas?

    Have MSI Wind running Windows XP3. Trying to get GMPC running with third party GPS usb, and New Zealand Open source maps.

    Well thats not the problem as I have already got unit and maps running in trial mode.

    Problem is KeyGen 1.5 and sw.unl file, whatever I seem to try always start in the yes no garmin gps screen and not the I agree screen.

    Things I have tried:
    uninstall re-install
    delete Document and settings/user/application data/garmin/garminmobilepc directory

    Keygen 1.5 seems to produce say a dozen codes for any one device id (and it is device id not software id). Should they all work

    Saved sw.unl as SW.unl, sw.UNL and other variations and text formats i.e ANSI etc

    I have deleted map source as well, also tried on another laptop, same results.

    Do not have any maps loaded when I try the above either.

    Anyone see what I am doing wrong? Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Default Unlocking Garmin Mobile PC

    Start "Garmin Mobile PC"

    Did this purcase ... ?
    -> Yes
    -> Done
    -> I Agree
    -> Settings
    -> System
    -> About
    Read Device Id: XXXXXXXX (8 digits)

    Exit "Garmin Mobile PC"

    Open "Garmin Unlock Generator v1.5"

    Enter Your Unit ID

    Select "Garmin Mobile PC" in drop-down window

    Pres "Generate"

    Copy Your software unlock code in editor (no spaces at end, no line breaks) and save it as "sw.unl"

    Be shure file name is not "sw.unl.txt"

    This is most common error when saving with notepad, it adds .txt by default, and you can't see it in Explorer if option "hide known file extensions" is not disabled.

    That's all folks!!!

    to create your sw.unl you can use this tool too
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    but NZ opensource maps are free and unlocked if I remember well, so no GMAPSUPP.UNL needed ,just SW.UNL
    save in this way (all files)

    Smile Thanks catymag and midnight blues

    Midnight Blues

    Everything I had done before as you noted, i.e. sw.unl no spaces or returns and no sw.unl.txt, but in Explore file type still noted as text file. This does not work.

    catymag

    Download sw.unl file generator, this produce a sw.unl file that worked and is noted by Explore as file type UNL file.

    Brilliant thanks very much for your help. Much appreciated

    Regards
