Current firmware on 2797 isn't a problem. 2797 really isn't a 'new' device, it's from 2013 line and has HWID 1517. It's only the 2xx7/8 devices with HWID 2077 that have a problem presently.

You've also been answered here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Please don't cross post. The clear answer about 2xx9 devices is in the initial post here and also elsewhere though the other thread as said [and it's title], including P#6: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Please read threads a bit before posting questions, it'll save your time and ours.

So all devices from 2013 line work ok? Or some devices 2xx7 and 3xx7 won't work?

Yes in my experience, with firmware to date. Nobody can know what future updates will bring.

Read this please: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If you have a 2xx7 only with HWID 2077 there's a problem as i said above, all new devices will probably be the same from release.

EDIT: As of early December 2015, a Chrissie present: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    "If you have 2xx7 (8) (PartNumber> 006-B1582-00), works
    If you have 2xx7 (8) (PartNumber> 006-B2077-00), doesn't work."

i have Nuvi 2597LMT with PN #10-N1123-30. This device is unlocked via "gimgunlock up to v.0.03+MapSigPatch" or not?

    thanks,

The 'Part Number' referred to that quote is the one shown in GarminDevice.xml of the unit's Garmin folder. What is important is the unit's HWID (Hardware identification) which is disclosed by the 4 numerals represented by 'xxxx' in '006-Bxxxx-00'. You can also find it by looking in the hidden menu behind the battery symbol. Hold it for ~6 seconds and then press 'Next' until you see a page 'Version Information', press 'Start Test'>'More' and look for 'Bxxxx-00' there too.

You can now patch both the 2xx7/8 firmwares to use unlocked maps in any case: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

This do not contain data about modification - probably Refurbished nuvi 2597LMT with North America only. Use Neil advice!

    Hello,

I am thinking of buying nuvi 3598 and I would like to ask if I can use unlocked maps without the new firmware patch, as I would prefer not to patch the firmware on a new device.

    Thanks
