I had the same problem updating my Nuvi 55LM; I tried to downgrade the software to version 3.40, but even getting the msg to confirm the installation of a version older than installed it didn't work; I copied the earlier version to "garmim\.system" replacing teh file "GUPDATE.GCD" and changed the "GarminDevice.XML", but I'm always with the version 4.30.
Does anyone have a "trick" to achieve the downgrade? Thanks.
You have to navigate to get to the good.

try to download it from this link
after that change it`s name to GUPDATE.GCD and past it in .system folder and also make sure to remove the old one.Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
after that once to started the device you will get the conformation msg to downgrade the version.

Thanks a lot for your help. The problem I had was trying to downgrade to version 3.40 that I found in the same link you sent me. There is a problem in that directory because the files are not all sorted and I found only versions 3.40 and 4.30; I tried to use version 3.40 and it seems that there's an error on it, it doesn't install and maintain original GCD file.
With the version you sent me (3.20) it worked well and the maps work again.

It unlocks NT (not NTU) IMGs in 2014 devices, but not working with all new devices 2xx9 and probably in most of newer devices firmware,
If you have 2xx7 (8) (PartNumber> 006-B1582-00), works
If you have 2xx7 (8) (PartNumber> 006-B2077-00), doesn't work.
who now what is part number for GPS nüvi® 2597LMT at Coscto store:
You'll not get a different answer to what Caty & i told you previously in that thread you started [unless someone is psychic lol]. We can't tell from looking at an on-line advert blurb, if you can't go back to the actual store then ring them to talk a sales clerk thru checking the hwid and if it shows B1582-00 in the hidden menu ask them to either hold that same one for you or send it.

Garmin 66LMT doesn't work even with free maps (i.e. map of Belarus) after firmware update up to 4.30. Hence I had to downgrade firmware to 3.40 back.
Love your wife? Buy yourself a GPS for answering to her favorite question: "Dear, where are you?".
Giomen, sorry for my stupid question, but would you pleased to tell me what is "MPC"? And what about the claim of russian distributor (navicom?), where can I read this about?
I have the same problem with map of Belarus on my nuvi 2597LMT (HWID B2077, of course).
