Remind me Again - why do I need to patch basecamp.exe or replace the original file?
If not doing it - do I have limited use of the programme or???
I have unlocked my maps (not lockable) - all seems to Work fine.

    Thanks Neil.

But I have just used about one to two hours on reading, and it s still not clear to me, why we need to patch Basecamp.
If you know - could you explain it to me?

I install an updated version of basecamp (4.5.2), the maps were already earlier unlocked using PGFT 2.2.5.4. and then it all seems to be working fine.
I know the correct order wouid be (in a fresh/clean install on a new computer)
    1/ Install Basecamp
    2/ Patch it
    3/ Unlock maps using PGFT
    It all Works.

And everytime Basecamp automatically downloads an update to Basecamp - I need to run the patcher in order to patch the new version of Basecamp?
    Correctly understood?

But I would like to understand what the difference it makes if the Basecamp is patched or not!
If you understand - then please tell.

For most users it's that MapInstall also be patched too. There is no 'need' or absolute necessity to patch really, it's mostly more about the convenience of any drive, including a PC's internal drives and partitions even a system partition or disc, then being able to receive mapping data. If you don't see any advantage in that then you don't need to patch.

Yes, if BC or MI is updated then you will need to patch the new version exe, if you want.

PGFT is not updated, better to use Unlock Mapsource directory by pietu now, because it contains gimgunlock+mapsigpatch for new signed maps.
If BC is patched you can unlock a map on 'pc' by JetMouse kg, imgs sent to 'any drive' if Mapinstall is patched, will be locked.
This is handy in case you have a map with FID smaller than 2200 and you want to have it unlocked in gps by .unl file, or you like to share a locked map.
Every time you reinstall or update BC it have to be patched again.
    Ps. Neil is faster

Hi! I am using CN europe NT 2016.1 map and i face the following problem. According to the map in a specific area where there was constructions on the road the map avoid the area (up to here very good but), the last month the constructions are finished and the new road is routable but i cannot change my route that basecamp is giving to me even that i tried to input new waypoints etc. Please any help ? The avoidence are tool does not show anything is like does not working at all. Basecamp version 4.5.2
My question is can i change myself the under construction ? because the direct route option does not assure that the auto routing option will use it in the future

If the closure of the road is embedded in the map software, you have to wait for a next map update to see the road open again. Usually Garmin maps lag behind real live situations, so it may take more than one next update before the map reflects the actual state of this particular road. This is not a shortcoming of BaseCamp.

    @ kolokythas

No you can't do anything since there is no road available on the current map, you have to wait a ...long time before you can see this change on a new Garmin map update.

Garmin NTU 2015.40 (rel. 11-03-2015) = HERE Q4.2014 (rel. 12-02-2015) changes applied up to 15-08-2014

Garmin NTU 2016.10 (rel. 19-05-2015) = HERE Q1.2015 (rel. 06-06-2015) changes applied up to 15-11-2014

Garmin NTU 2016.20 (rel. ??-??-2015) = HERE Q2.2015 (rel. 15-08-2015) changes applied up to 14-02-2015

NTU 2015.40 has 7 months old changes
NTU 2016.10 has 6 months old changes
NTU 2016.20 will probably have 10 months old changes!!!

So if something has changed in Bulgaria in August and it was timely reported to HERE Bulgaria and they had time to inspected it, this change will take 6-9 months to appear on a Garmin NTU map.....
