Should there be only one JCV in the system\jcv folder? If I have multiple, how would the Garmin device know which one to associate with the map that is currently installed?

You can have multiple unrelated JVC files if you wish provided that none is for an earlier map of the same series and they are for different maps. ie. TH won't interfere with SG/MY and AU 2015.40 HERE won't interfere with NA 2015.40 HERE and vice versa, but AU 2015.40 HERE file might cause problems if left in the folder when using AU 2016.10 HERE for instance. Otherwise, the unit will simply know which JCV file is associated with which map and choose accordingly.

Gotcha. And this is regardless of the filename of the JCV file, right? The device probably associates a specific JCV file to its associated map "partner" through its file header information probably?

Not sure what you mean by 'regardless of the file name', but don't change the name of any of the files. Each JCV file is tied to a specific map however.

What I mean is would the Philippines.jcv file (included in the 2015 HERE map) still be usable if I change its filename?

You can provide any arbitrary name for the file JCV (<anyname>.jcv), but don't forget about the NameLength limit (max 11) in this case.

Exactly, although my inference was that Keven probably wanted to change the jcv name to match the map. However renaming as 'CN Philippines NT 2015.20.jcv' will be far too long for instance. 'Philippines' is already 11 characters.

    Ok, for example: CNPH2015.20.jcv, CNPHL2015.2.jcv or CNPH_2015.2.jcv

Anyone know the smallest size JCV file that has svgz graphic? The D3060180A.jcv for NA2016.10 is way too big for my need.

Edit: Nevermind, found D3568130A.JCV in SA2015.40

    Touché!

Sorry, missed that post earlier. I've got India 2013.30 which is a Western-style SVGZ file and only ~14.6 MiB. If you want it let me know and i'll post it for you.

    India 2013 30 JCV
