No Updater for Linux, you should use wine.
This is a reply from garmin support:
Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.

I am happy to help with your enquiry.

Unfortunately we do not support Linux operating systems; we only support
    Windows and MAC Operating Systems.

I'm afraid we do not have any plans to introduce this.

    I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

If there is anything else I can help you with then please let me know.
Alternatively you can search for a solution here:h tt p://www.garmin.co.uk/support

    Kind regards,

I think that you might use
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
approach (depending on the Garmin device You have, I think). This method depends on you downloading the firmware beforehand, and putting it to proper place in device's folder structure.

    @ merbau

    Welcome

Read with care this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Link of company and sites no for hosting, should be coded

Korabi71 has the nuvi 1440 (I think) and the app WebUpdater serves much more, as well as update the firmware

Tnx.... in any case the information is always useful.

    Bye,bye

    Thanks for the guidance.

As I am a linux user myself, I do not have a Web Updater. But I checked Garmin's site for the Web Updater, and this is what they promise:

    WebUpdater only updates unit software.
New member a bit confused now, sorry...

    Yes...is correct!!
Everything you need to update the nuvi software, even some kind of map

Basically you can update other kind of software even some additional maps ,with Webupdater
