Umm, i wonder why they removed it Caty? I've only installed it in Win8 and not in Win7 yet. I've found difficulty keeping devices 'attached' to browse them if Garmin Express is already running when a device is plugged in. Even killing GE doesn't seem to solve the problem, only with a reboot and ensuring GE isn't running before plugging the device in can i then browse it. If not, it's visible for no more than a second and the device disappears from the window. Maybe GE 'grabs' the garmin usb drivers. This is yet another Garmin 'helper' that i like at the moment about as much as i like LifeTime Updater (be aware that I HATE LifeTime Updater). It seems intuitive and has some nice easy features such as the backup and transfer functions though. I hope they fix it and reissue it.

I had the same difficulties in my windows 8 coz I firstly attached it to a USB 3.0, but no problem with USB 2.0, may be some problems with USB drivers ?
Many users had problem with updating from version 2.0.0 to 2.0.1, the program shows the update but it fails in updating. I updated it successfully.

Thanks for the infos and the link Caty. I think my problem with Win8 was maybe with GarminCommunicator for some reason, it reinstalled the plugin the next time and i haven't had the drop-out problem since.

Some of those POI Factory blokes have had similar experiences to me with outdated maps being offered via Garmin Express.

Check this out for a 1690 which has AU Navteq 2013.30 on board:

    1690ob

Yep, it's got current map alright.
    But not according to GE:

    1690

Garmin thinks I should buy a 'new' 2013.20 OneTime map.
'How about one of these for Sir perhaps? If you'd like a DVD we're even a wee bit further behind the times though':

    1690ot

No?, prefer LifeTime would we? That will cost you only US$159.99 for the old Sensis jobbie from July Sir, but don't worry we'll then offer to update it to 2013.30 next time you visit [maybe]' (BTW, that will change to AU$189 [about US$182 presently] when it works out i'm from DownUnder):

    1690lm

No wonder they pulled it. It's as buggy as all getout. I hope they fix it though, it's got some handy features.
