Right. I tried to make backup by Express. The backup contains only GPX files, POI files and SQLite files (myTrends, i think?!?).

Yep, so we know that it's a 'cardboard cutout' backup program. Not worth a pinch of imo, and as Loly points out the inexperienced user will think that he/she is backing up the unit so that if something goes wrong it can be restored .. Ha! Bazinga! Is that Garmin's idea of a Sheldon-like joke that nobody else thinks is funny? Maybe not, but unless they've carefully and prominently disclosed somewhere that it is only a partial backup, they're setting themselves up for trouble i think. Same-same for the 'one-shot' map download (Sorry Folks, you had your chance to get your map and if things messed up through no fault of your own... well, stiff , go tell someone who cares!). Actually, maybe they didn't say that and i just made it up. But .. the fact remains IT'S NOT BL**DY FAIR! They need to fix that and also fix the backup so that it actually works, or remove it, or tell ppl that it really backs up practically nothing. Time will tell. I'm praying they leave MapUpdater alone.

I think that Garmin count on this, that beginer will go to repair shop when GE do the mess and they will say " can't repair your nuvi, you must buy a new one but we add 20% bonus when you buy new unit "

Which is fine if the unit's under warranty. But what if it isn't, 'coz then the store doesn't care and the repair shop charges big money, maybe as much or more than the device is worth. I think you and Loly are actually on the same page, and me too. We're all looking at it from the beginner's perspective. GE's backup doesn't help, so who will the beginner turn to???? ....... ta da! Yes, Garmin! 'Garmin, your program broke my device and your backup really isn't a backup's bootlace! Wotcha gonna do about it? Who do i havta SUE around here to get this fixed?.

I said earlier that i think this is beta software, just unoffical. That was kind of a joke then, but not now. I think you're right Loly. They were 'testing the market' and released it early to see what happened with people's reaction, but have got tangled up in the bugs and problems and now are falling over themselves still trying to get it right.
