I have connected 37 --> 3490 LMT several times with GE in the latest version and the previous one and although i had CNEU 2014.10 installed in the past or CNEU 2014.20 now & GE tells me I don't have any update available, every time i connect the device i get the 2013.40 Netherlands "very important alert".

Come on now, i'm two updates ahead with CNEU why should i get an alert for a version i don't use any more and while GE informed me that i don't have anything to update ??? It's like one part of the app doesn't know what the other part has discovered.

Really? That's all we have to do, it's that easy Loly? OMG, LifetimeUpdater wasn't so bad after all! I should take the first part of your tip, i.e. 'Uninstall GE from PC' ..... period. But it's become like a train-wreck you can't turn away from. I can't wait to see what doesn't get fixed next.

Loly whenever there 're updates available for my device it notifies me every time, i just don't use it because i don't trust it. What i'm trying to say here is that although my device is updated with WebUpdater & MapUpdater & GE correctly notifies me that there are no updates available for soft or maps it keeps giving me this very "important alert" about CNEU 2013.40 with the problem for Netherlands. Why should i get an alert for something i have resolved, i' m two or three map updates away from this problem. It seems like the app gives an alert about a problem ignoring the fact that the same app checked my device & found it updated. This alert should be there for users that haven' t updated their devices & still use CNEU 2013.40 or that's what i think about it.

When i have installed previous GE i have the same problem with warning of 2013.40 map ant then i have problem to remove GE from Pc.
First turn off to run with windows and to auto detect if nuvi is connected, then resart Pc and i can remove GE.

When i install again GE warning is desapire, but i remove GE anyway becouse i don't like it.

I don't fully trust Express, but I'm willing to be "open minded" and do my own evaluation to every new version.
I've updated maps and firmware with Express and it has been successful in both cases.
It has a very good backup tool to use just before and just after hard reset. It basically puts back your favourites, trips, gpi files and db files with just one mouse click.
In the future we might be forced to use Express for everything if GarminMapUpdater and Webupdater are deemed to be obsolete and stop working.
I found out quite by fluke that if you update Express it is good practice to delete all your devices and re-create them by plugging in usb.
This seems to eliminate most errors.
Bricked devices are caused by user unplugging device during update or Internet connection failing, (Info from Garmin Tech Support).
I'm going to force myself to use it in the future.

After reading your last post i had to tried Loly to see what happens. I always have GE disabled from Win startup so i just closed it completely from the Taskbar, unistall it with no problems, reboot my PC, used CCleaner to remove any Registry entries, i found three of them and finally reinstall it. The alert is still there & now i have two updates available that i already have installed, 7.90 firm update & GTM Traffic Receiver Update 3.3.10 ....

No way to make sence with GE, it can mess up the device beyond recognition

Will try to install this latest version and see if i will have the same situation like you.
I think that Garmin add new look and new and old bug in this release.

I agree with dasilvarsa that we should be open minded but i think it will take a long time for GE to be reliable unless Garmin discontinues it like LifetimeUpdater. They can't keep on developing something that doesn't work.

I have almost the same situation. Still have an alert about problem in Netherlands map. Still have to update firmware to version 7.90 even it's already version 7.90. For Lifetime maps download I'm using Map updater and have no issues.
