    It's a tad OT i know, forgive me [but G started it Miss!]. I love Mapsource and found it an easy program to master, even at first. When I first started to use BC/MI a couple of years ago I really thought I was losing the plot but stuck at it and got my head around it, but I just cannot like MapInstall. I'm still am madly in love with MS and wish it could still churn out a reliable CN, but you can no longer rely on it to do so. I feel like a jilted lover [don't dare say "I'll try to get you one" 'cos t'was me wot made that pun joke up i think]. My point being, it's impossible not to complain of being hard done-by when you have to stop using a program which was as comfy as a pair of old slippers and used to be as faithful and easy to control as a good ol' hound dog. Now your slippers have razor blades in them and the hound won't hunt. MS turns on you by maybe placing unknown hidden glitches in the map images you make. MS can still do other things better as you said Ellinas.

    But Garmin hasn't finished tormenting us, because now GE is here. LifeTimeUpdater is now gone [hooray! or who cares? depending of whether you hated it or just didn't use it]. Everyone i know who ever used it stopped and switched to MU when made aware that they had an alternative. It just didn't seem to work properly anyway, good riddance to bad rubbish. But I don't think that I will ever warm at all to GE the way i've warmed up to BaseCamp a little. As long as WebUpdater and MapUpdater are still around I won't have a bar of GarminExpress.

    Maybe, just maybe we can hope that MapSource will rise again. If i'm not wrong Nuvi 3597 is the first 3xxx series device that can really send with no tricks a route to MapSource, i did it myself & i know it works. Anyway it's a good sign ...

    My apologies for the off topic, i couldn't help it !!!

    This Version is totally different.
    The User Interface has changed radically.
    Seems Like there is no option to Download Maps to Computer ?
    Any Comments ?

    My comment:
    Using GE = ++++++++++++ +.
    So I'll until it's either or . In the interim, MU + WU = . Garmin should fix GE or bin it imo. At present it's living proof that change doesn't always result in progress.
    over.

    Be easy and careful with Express. This program is very spiteful and vindictive
    I had killed ExpressTrey in autorun. The next day I saw what I lack a some Gb on my disk. I checked for lacking and found a full installation (IMG folder and gmapprom.img) of CNRUNT in c:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Application Data\Garmin\Core Update Service. I erased it! But on next day the lacking had been took place again. I checked folder above but it was empty. I found a new entry in c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GARMIN\Core Update Service with the same full installation of CNRUNT. I erased it and would wait for news...

    I've 'unbricked' 3 nuvi for friends [and friends of friends] just in August. All stopped working while using Garmin Express for updates, but all were easily fixed however. The thing is, how is Garmin handling complaints when others contact Support to say 'Your *&^%$#@! software killed my nuvi!'? I reckon the number of units bricked has doubled or trebled since GE came along. It's my experience that most ppl using GE are doing so because it has been installed when they went to MyDashboard or through the update yes button already default-selected when they exited MapUpdater. In other words, they have not made an informed choice to use this program but have had it foisted upon them because, and i'm quoting what's been said to me, 'I trusted Garmin and thought I had to use Garmin Express'. These trusting souls have u/s units in return for that trust. I know some ppl do stupid things when downloading updates though and cause the problem themselves, but that's only a tiny minority. The program has some nice features [grudgingly admitted] but it's sneaky, as Giomen points out it does things behind your back...
    On a side note, i don't recall having so many friends before i started repairing Garmins for nix and i now have a lot more courtesy of GE .......
