    Thank you guys.
    I had Mapinstall and then downloaded the patch and received that error. I re-downloaded both and now it looks like I can click the .exe patched version but it wants to look for a device. I plugged in my GPS and it finds it buy it says "can't find unlocked map" I have an old map on the SD because I cannot fit the new map and the GPS doesn't like a 4GB card.

    Have you unlocked the gmap folder as zajacz suggested in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] that you would need to do if you dl'ed a Locked PC [MS] version? If only the *.tdb file in the Product 1 folder is unlocked the map will show as 'Unlocked' [but that's only for the programs, not for a device], if it is completely unlocked for BC/MI then it will show as 'Not-lockable' [which is essentially 'fully unlocked' of course]. You can use [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] or [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If you only want to 'Unlock' for the program use, see also [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and then unlock the resultant image with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    Backup your old map and clear the SD to make thing easier too, although the program will just overwrite any other file named gmapsupp.img in the SD'd Garmin folder. The patched version of MI will send not only to a device or it's inserted media card but also to any drive/usb stick/media card/virtual drive/extended partition-logical drive, in fact anything which is not write-protected.

    I downloaded a map from someone on here who minimized it a bit so that it was under 2gb. It was a .img file that I downloaded to the SD card and it worked perfectly. I still can't get mapinstall to work correctly, but I think I will need to delete everything and start from scratch. I will follow the instructions on this site step by step so there is no confusion.

    @rendog33
    Mapinstall does not work with *.img files
    You need to download full .gmap folder which is called Mapsource Installation (Maps for your PC).

    MOD NOTE: I'm sure he understands that mate. The image he's referring to is the one he's using now but it's older. He's having problems using MI for some reason to make a new smaller image to fit on his 2GB SD card. See Post #17: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
