Although it is cool to view IMG in Basecamp !
There are advantages to getting the full Mapsource version.
You can load Individual tiles e.g. If you live in Portugal and occasionally drive to Spain you can just load Spain and Portugal tiles only 300k versus 2.X Gig.
Having less Map tiles loaded speeds things up on your Nuvi.
You can Print Map if you have full Mapsource Version no Map printing on IMG only version.
Mapsource Version Works Faster on your computer vs IMG on Nuvi or Flashdrive.

yeah i hv been using mapsource for years & know the advantages. i just need something to read the img format directly & basecamp seems to do the job just fine. before this i use gmpc so i no longer need it.

    it's explained here
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
When you create your virtual sd ,keep in mind the path where you create it, so at pc restart ,you go there and right click on it ,choose Mount as Virtual Disk, then compile the size field with the previously created size, tick Removable Media and hit OK.
Your virtual sd will reappear in My Computer window

    newer version here
