    Anyone have similar issue or fix???
    Thanks
    Hi,

    The only known issue where PGFT is stopping working is when some registry key are not present ; you should verify if those keys are there :

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\Families]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\FamiliesNT]

    and the most important key is :

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\Products]
    "InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\GARMIN\\"
    "Language"="FRENCH_STANDARD"
    "Folder"="MapSource"

    If this key is not there PGFT would stop working ..

    if you want to create the structure, just create a .reg file with this content :

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\4.00]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\Families]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\FamiliesNT]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\Products]
    "InstallDir"="C:\\Program Files\\GARMIN\\"
    "Language"="FRENCH_STANDARD"
    "Folder"="MapSource"

    ==> Note that I don't know why but the site put a space between Map and Source .. just remove that space to be OK

    Don't forget to point the InstallDir to the appropriate place ..

    After the file has been created, just double click on it to import the content in you registry.

    I'm currently doing a patch for this problem, first seen by Kenta.

    @Neil :

    For the "Load File" button, there is a little bug, that prevent the File Browser to open correctly ; will be fixed in the next release too

    I'm currently working on VPM file protection.

    Forgot to mention : if you're using a x86 system, remove the "Wow6432Node\" from the registry path, as this is of x64 system.

    Thanks marcoqc
    I created the reg file and ran it and checked my registry. All those keys are present but I still have the same problem ("Protected Garmin File Toolkit has stopped working")

    I'm running windows 7 64 but notice that my install directory is located in C:/Program Files (x86)/Garmin. The folders in it are "Basecamp" "Map Install" "USB_drivers" and "Webupdater.
    I checked the reg key and it does point to this folder.

    So any other ideas. Could it be the map itself? I see the map is installed in "C:/Programdata/Garmin/maps (This is where CNNANT2013_20Update.msi intalls it too)

    marcoqc "merci beaucoup" for taking the time to help. My problem is now solved and map unlocked.
    Once I had my initial probs resolved PGMF was very simple to use.

    Below I have included a step by step guide on what I did.

    I hope this helps ppl.
    I've kept a step by step guide of my unlocking a mapsource map for my Garmin. I'm not sure if one already exists besides the pic in Post #1 so here it is for anyone interested.

    Great thanks to marcoqc, Neil and Catymag for all their patience and help in getting me there.

    Programs needed:

    1. A mapsource map (not an .img file)
    2. Mapsource program. This must be patched.
    3. Protected Garmin file toolkit. You can download v 2.2.3.4 on this site. Make sure you have the correct one for your OS (64bit or 32bit)

    You also need to have the correct keys in the Registry for PGFT to work properly.
    See Marcoqc's post #61 in the "Protected Garmin File Toolkit v.2.2.3.4" Thread. Also see his post #1 for a photo of PGFT and how to use it.

    To unlock I did the following:

    1. Install your mapsource map using the "CNNANT2013_20Update.msi" file. (This file should be in the folder that your downloaded map was extracted to).

    When you run this in Windows 7 it will install the maps at C:/ProgramData/Garmin/Maps/

    Once you have done this you can run Mapsource and it should open the map and show it as being locked

    2. Install and run "Protected Garmin file toolkit" (PFGF).
    IMPORTANT...IN WINDOWS 7 YOU MUST RUN IT AS ADMINISTRATOR. (right click on it and choose "run as adminstrator)

    3. Now click the Mapsource tab (4th one along the top).

    4. If no map is shown in the map window than you need to click the "Select an XML file within gmap folder and update the registry" button near the bottom.

    When this opens point it to "ProgramData/Garmin/Maps/city Navigator North America NT 2013.20.gmap/info.xml (again this is for Windows 7)

    5. The map should now show up in map window.

    6. Finally highlight the map and click "Unlock Selected TDB"

    That should do it.
    Hope this helpsI found eveything I needed on this great site.

    hot PGFT 2.2.4.4 - Maintenance Release

    Next Version of PGFT (2.2.4.4) is there :

    What's new in that version :

    * ability to delete a mapsource map (registry and folder)
    * repair or creation of all necessary entry in the registry
    * auto add of map / if some map are not present you can import them, even if there is no xml file (for non NT map)
    * improved error handling for a lot of common problem (registry oriented) like key not present or read only file...

    Note : for pc that have UAC enable, you should always run the program "as administrator" (right click on the program then select "Run as administrator" : it's the line with the litlle shield)

    Here are the two version of PGFT 2.2.4.4 :

    IMHO all works fine now in MS tab.
    Might you add a feature to remove personal codes from the .img ? We have a tool by pietu, but it changes the .img header and it doesn't support the CP1251 too: the tool spoils original mapset cyrillic name ,so we use the Hex editor actually.

    Do you have an example of a cyrillic img file to be able to test ?
