To get map list I just look at the registry ; if maps doesn't apear under :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\Families
    or
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\FamiliesNT

The tool doesn't display them ; that why you can add then by importing the xml file !

Anyway the tools search only product location : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Garmin\MapSource\Products\InstallDir + Maps

So what's new in this version :

    - Colored line for standard gmap / non standard
    - Support of more subfile within an img file in order to get FID, PID and CP
    - Improvement of some code (related to the GUI update when doing background jobs)
    - corrected some bugs
    and some more

    Links :
    ***Hidden content cannot be quoted.***

    A usual .Net 4.x required.
    Question... (Help appreciated)

When I download (to a windows XP PRo system) the zip file from the links for 2.2.0.4 x86 or x64 I can't seem to unzip successfully with winzip, winrar, or 7-Zip. Basically, Winzip and winrar tells me it's not a valid archive, corrupt, or unrecognized format. 7Z allows me to open the archive the content does not have an exe extension.

I'm confused as I had no probelems with earlier versions. Is there actually something funny about those hidden links or am I doing something dumb?

The earlier versions which worked came fom zippyshare

UPDATE: Figured it out. Used 7-Zip to open the archive and then had to do a right click on the contents (which may be a UNIX archive) and do an "Open Inside" to see the .exe which I could then extract.

    Note for tiger555 :

zip file have been made with windows send to Compressed (zipped) folder, so it should be readable by all standard zip tools.

What does the button "Unlock Map"?
Remove protection only TDB file. Files "12345678.img" remain protected. Is that correct?

    Hello E_I
Protected Garmin File Toolkit v. 2.2.0.4 is based on Gimgunlock

Nevertheless, there is a better and even faster way than gimgunlock to unlock a MapSource installation. And you don't need a new tool to do so. Here are the steps of this little known trick.

[1] Install a locked MapSource product as usual.
[2] Find the pathname of the newly installed .tdb file. If not sure where to find, run MapSource.exe, select "Utilities -> Manage Map Products...", then find the "Installed Location" corresponding to the installed map from the list. The "Installed Location" is the folder containing the .tdb file.
[3] Make a backup copy of the .tdb file found.
[4] Download and extract GarminUnlocker.exe from the post below.

[5] Run the following command in a command prompt window to unlock the .tdb file.
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
That's all. The whole MapSource installation is unlocked instantly.

    Features of this unlocking method
    * Super fast unlocking in milli-seconds.
    * No disk space and very little memory used.
    * It unlocks any MapSource installation, regardless of .img or .gmp files.
    * It unlocks any MapID, regardless of unlock code or GMA protected.
    * The unlocked map works with any MapSource.exe version, no patch required,
    * The installed .img or .gmp maps remain intact.
    * The map generated by MapSource.exe via "Transfer -> Send To Device..." is locked. However, it can be unlocked quickly by gimgunlock from post #1.

    @E_I

Unlocking mapsource map is done by modifying the tdb file, as it is the most efficient way to do it, without touching the img file.

So what does each button in the mapSource tab then :

Unlock map : when a locked map line is selected in the list, it will unlock the associated tdb file
Unlock a TDB file : if you have a tdb file not listed here, you can unlock the file directly
Unlock All Locked map : will parse all the map in the list, and for each locked map will unlock the associated tdb file

As you can see the secret here is to unlock the tdb file rather than the img files as originally posted by syzygy (see catymag post #29 in this thread).
