As an update to my earlier post, it seems that if you run the software update from within BaseCamp it will update MapInstall as well. However, new installs of BaseCamp 3.3.3 no longer include MapInstall as part of the package. I confirmed this by uninstalling BaseCamp and the MapInstall upgrade, then re-installing BaseCamp. MapInstall wasn't installed like it was on older versions.

Good thing or bad thing? You decide.

It is quite possible that my laptop is the culprit, given that it runs 64-bit Windows 7. What size is your download file? It's possible that Garmin may have changed the file between May 17th (when I downloaded my copy of 3.3.3) and now?.

I just copied the Basecamp.exe (Special) to basecamp 3.3.2 folder and it seems to be working fine.
    It says that it's 3.3.3 !

Yes of course, file of slightly larger size is available now. There is new version on Garmin.com with MapInstall.

It is quite normal! Exe file for BaseCamp and MapSource is portable application by default.
    But:
    - only for English version! For others languages the new local dll is needed also.
    - may be problem with raster maps. You do not update of exiv2.dll.

Sometimes you can bypass installer error by extracting all files end executing *.msi file.
    Thanks, Kanopus

    @ Kanopus

Thank you! I thought in the same way. In fact I somehow succeeded but not sure how. I still can't run the app (still have the same error) but when I start again BC it is written 3.3.3 in Version Software. So should be ok now...

    Cheers,

Have BaseCamp 3.3.2 installed and want to look at .img files. Did try to download the patched version of BaseCamp 3.3.2 but it had been removed.
Should I download BaseCamp 3.3.3 and is there a patched version of this tool available.
