Thanks for the gpi files. Here is what I found. All gpi files are multi-language files. The so called superfluous title is actually the English version of the title and will be used or displayed when English is selected. It just happens that some of the English titles are very short and meaningless, not a good translation from their Russian version.

The Parks_in_Moscow.gpi, Kostroma.gpi files and similar are not multilingual (in Russian only).
Only the name of the POI group (set) have been translated into English ("very short and meaningless" mostly).
All the filling (stuffing): names of categories, subcategories, the themselves POI and their descriptions in Russian only.
If you select the English language in the device then all of this will display in Russian, except for a single group title of the POI.

I think it boils down to what is the intention of the maker of these gpi files.

If the intention is to have a single language file then the maker shouldn't add titles in other languages to the header. Doing so confuses the application and users to think it is a multilingual gpi file.

On the other hand, if the intention is to have a multilingual file then the maker should have provided string values in all languages it intends to support, as did in Tutorial.gpi. Not doing so creates an incomplete and inconsistent file which also confuses the application and users.

I tend to believe the maker made one of the two mistakes mentioned above. There is no error in parsing title header by the toolkit, i.e. no syntax error. But the semantics is ambiguous or incomplete in this case.

I think like you, but the fact remains that nothing can be done.
Based on the above, I think that should be stopped to seek way out of this substandard and hopeless situation ...

OK, All that's say, I will focus my next version (1.7.0.0) to better manage foreign languages like Chinese or India, cause Microsoft codepage isn't aligned correctly with Garmin two letters codepage.

If you, users, does have any suggestions about others functionality you would see in the product, it's time to ask

    Cheers

Copyright sign ( [A9]) is displayed incorrectly () in one case, however it is correctly in other case. Why?
    For example:
Incorrectly - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Correctly - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
