I was needed to reactivate a killed GarminExpress but just after launching and connecting to Garmin with the GE I tried the MU again and it worked normally. The Garmin mystic as usually.
And one more interesting message I could see - GarminExpress reminded me about Win XP fate with the prospect of discontinuance of GarminExpress for XP too.

I've had that too, and interestingly also the other way around, where GE didn't offer the update but MU did. Then all came good. The Garmin Gremlins are alive and well. Don't ever feed your nuvi an update after midnight.

When used with the likes of a nuvi with built-in Lifetime Map updates, Garmin MapUpdater used to have the Option of selecting to install the new map on the Device / Computer and Device / Computer only. Express had that option for a while too. Now it seems neither has that option or am I mistaken? Thank you.

This is where it used to be in GE:

    Garmin Express old

This is where it is now:

    Garmin Express new

    Garmin Express new 1

I still get the option to install to PC in MU as well:

    MU333

    Device has NA LM .

Thank you Neil for the quick reply. I've just tried again with my nuvi 2797LM with GE (version 3.2.4.0) and there's no Advanced Option for the City Navigator Aust/NZ map. There hasn't been for the last couple of updates at least. Prior to that for one version (maybe 2014.2 or 3) it would offer the option and even though it appeared to be loading to BaseCamp it did not. This was using a new Windows 8.1 machine. However it worked OK loading into BaseCamp on the old XP computer. I then used JaVaWa GMTK to transfer it to my 8.1 machine.

Today I've connected a zumo 350 with an out of date map and this is the view from Express:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
After clicking Install I get the usual Terms page to agree to then the download immediately starts.

However, when I connect a USA new nuvi 1390 with Lifetime Maps I get the same Advanced Options as you show:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If anyone with a Australian / New Zealand Lifetime Map nuvi/zumo could try it that would be interesting. Maybe the function has been crippled on the Aust/NZ map for some reason?

No maybe about it my friend, you've discovered the problem. I'm also using Win8.1 and I've just got the same screen with an AU 3590, no option for advanced offered:

    Garmin Express no advanced options

I'll try with XP_32 and also Win7_64 to see if it lets me have the gmap folder, maybe it's an x64 thing too. Is your XP 32bit? Stupid question, anybody still using XP_64 would have been driven mad by now .....

I see this is also being discussed concurrently on an Oz forum, maybe Garmin's up to something but probably a map bug 'cos it's removed from MapUpdater with the AUNZ as well and not a problem with other countries it seems. Please contact their help desk about it as i will, but be aware that they strangle a kitten even time they have to issue a support ticket.

    Thanks for testing. Cheers.

Thanks, good to know it's not just me. I've just tried both GE and MU on the XP 32 computer with the nuvi 2797LM and had no joy getting the option to install the map to the computer. So looks like a call to Garmin in Sydney (call centre is in Manila but at least they answer quickly).

I thought you meant it was the current map where XP gave you the gmap folder, i now realise that you meant for the earlier version "(maybe 2014.2 or 3)" [dammit!]. Good luck with the call centre. I might try email.

Excuse me if it has already been answreed but I have read through the thread and didn't notice the answer though it seems to me that it must be an obvious question.

Can this map updater be used on maps that were downloaded from this site originally or only if the map was bought from Garmin?

ie have City Navigator Europe NT 2011.32 which I got from this site and would like to install Garmin City Navigator Europe NT(Unicode) 2015.10. I was going to download the CNENT 2015.10 from your site and then wondered if I could use this mapupdater tool to update my existing map instead?

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask.

    Many thanks

With Mapupdater you will not be able to update maps downloaded from this site or from other non official Garmin site.
