Method from Caty mentioned above is not possible for you device!
    Use Garmin firmware downloader/reconstructor
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    Usage: gda.exe [<original.rgn> <result.rgn>]
<original.rgn> - name of software RGN file from Garmin.com (download it and put in folder with gda.exe)
<result.rgn> - your name for new file that you get from device

I do not remember experience with Etrex Venture HC (it is very not friendly device) but this programm work fine on other old Garmin hendhelders.

    Make folder GDA in c:\
    Unpack in this folder gda.exe
Put original software file with version what is correspond version of soft in your device, for example if device softversion is 2.70 - 069501000270.RGN or 078601000270.RGN (695 or 786 ID of you device if you do not know it you can get it by G7ToWin program).
Go to Windows - Start - Run... - and type "c:\gda\gda.exe 069501000270.RGN 069501000270_LT.RGN" (or same way for 078601000270.RGN if your ID is 786) - when press OK and watch for screen...

If result is OK you get new file - 069501000270_LT.RGN. It is software from device. THERE ARE NO other way to get software from device.
