Thanks rodger1109, I had already tried that unlocker though.

I used some software mentioned in another thread to check if the .img file was unlocked, this proved it was unlocked so no issue with the unlocker software. I then out of desperation did a full reset on the Garmin edge 800 and now all works as it should.

Thanks for every ones help with this.

I will explain what i do, maybe it can help many other members.

You also can put the unlocked map on a SD-card and insert it your GPS.

With this you keep your original old installed map untouched, and can fall back on this in case something bad happen with your device.
This only works with units that does have a SD or Micro-SD card port. Your card should be at least 8GB for it to work well.

There you have to make a map named MAP
Put your unlocked img-card into the MAP you just did create on the SD-card.
In my 4 Garmin GPS units it keep the old last updated card in the garmin map on the sd-card, while it install the new card in the map MAP on the sd-card.
After it read your new unlocked map i find out you can delete the garmin map, and save space.
Even you can change the map in what you want for name, it does read my unlocked .IMG always.
I am not sure that this will work on any Garmin unit.

Garmin Nuvi 1490-T and Garmin Nuvi 3790.

Some GPS units can fast startup and keep the old card in memory, so it will not see the update.
For these you keep the on/off button pressed for some seconds until the garmin say; switch off?

Select yes and restart it, now it will read your new unlocked card.

Just try this prog on CN-Europe 2015-20 ALL locked map.

    Works perfect!

Garmin UnLocker Alternative v8.0.1, during opening on widows 8.1x64, reports an error. So what shall I use instead of it? (for NT and NTU maps)

I was confused when tried to use Garmin Image Unlock gimgunlock. On win.7, I had a few seconds to observe process of unlocking. On win8.1 the process is like- open window and at once to be closed. But when I check probably locked file on my nuvi- it works . So, my problem with unlocking NT maps on win8 is solved.
