    I made several logos for the 37xx series, but none worked. I just ended up with no logo at all. I would be tempted to say to be careful with logo flashing, but will all the tests I did, I did not break anything except I lost the logo.

    We can hope for a logo.bin in some of the fw, but from what I heard, the chances are slim to none.

    I do not remember if I posted here, but looking at some headers in the firmware (look just after GARMIN BITMAP 01), I know the logo is 800x480 and it is 32 bits. I think there is only one logo, but I am not 100% sure. I tried to program 1, 2 and 4 logos at different resolutions and formats. For the single logo, I tried different header formats as well from the different logo.bin I found. None worked.

    BTW, the "Image Not Found" white square, I found where it is coming from in the firmware. Cute!

    When I have a minute, I want to try changing the logo part number from D2080-00 to D2080-x0 where x can be 4, 5 or 6. I am curious to see if it will enable some things like in the 13xx and 14xx firmware. Remember I got a 3750 (not 3790).

    HI Leiwi,

    Sorry for the late response. I am not familiar with the Marine models series 600 or 700. I would need your screen resolution and the partnumber for your splash screen as seens in the inventory page. It should be a number like 006-Dxxxx-xx.

    Thanks,

    Turbo

    Hi Turbo,

    Thanks for creating all the very useful tools. They are fabulous.

    I am trying to use GIR_Editor to load a 480x272 logo:

    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    But got an error:

    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Could you take a look?

    Also if you could point me to some info regarding the structure of a logo.bin file that would be great.

    I am trying to get a logo screen onto a nuvi 660, which is 480x272. So far the "templates" I could find that work with GIR_Editor are all 480x212. The file above is the only one of the proper size, but the image is garbled.

    Thanks!

    Hi snehne,

    I looked at your file. You seem to be close. First, the record size at offset 65-68 hex seems to be good for the logo size, but it looks like you have something else after the logo record or the logo itself is bigger than the specified size. I tried to correct it, but the logo looks bad. How many logo in your file? You seem to have only one, but it seems bigger than the specified size at offset 65-68 hex.

    Edit: mabe you could post me your logo and I can see how what is the problem.

    Thanks a lot, Turbo.

    I got the logo file form someone else. I was able to load the logo onto the 660 but the graphics is garbled. My plan was to load it into GIR_Editor and replace the image with my own. So all I need is for it to be loaded into GIR_Editor; then I would be able to get the desired image.

    I also suspected that the size was incorrect -- I think the file was carved out using a hex editor. But I have no idea about the format of the logo file; if you could enlighten me a bit (or give me a pointer to the info), it would be very helpful.

    thanks,

    Sean

    Ok. Then try to change the bytes at address 65-68 hex from 00 FC 03 00 to C1 1B 04 00. I tested it and you will be able to load it in GIR_editor, but even if you can change the logo and save back (I tested it and it works), the final file size will not be right. I think it will not matter because the file will be valid from now on. It will most probably load right on your gps as the gps knows how to handle extra bytes at the end of the file.

    Hi Turbo,

    I did the change and replaced the image. The image could be loaded to the gps, but would not display.

    I think the problem with the original file is at the end, not the beginning, because

    [1] I checked the original 660 bin file from which the logo bin file was carved out, and it has 00 FC 03 00;
    [2] When I loaded that logo bin file, I did get the garbled image displayed;
    [3] The size of a normal 480x272 image is smaller than the one reported by GIR_Editor of the garbled logo: The reported size of the good image is 261120, while the internal one is 269249 -- note the former is 0x03FC00, and the latter 0x041BC1.

    So it seems that 03FC00 was the real/correct size; the problem is that the actual image was somehow messed up. So what I really need, I think, is a "template" that is of size 03FC00 and of image dimension of 480x272; the actual image does not matter as it will be replaced,but the size is important.

    If you could teach me on how to make such a template (as I still have no clue about the layout of the logo bin file), I should be all set.

    Thanks again.

    Sean
