    I see a lot glx files inside. It is safe: extract with 7zip, edit glx, compress, send to GPS?

    I think the GPS needs to "register" the files before they are installed. I made a test some time ago and noticed that Web Updated installed those files in the /Garmin folder first (as .zip or something compressed) and they were finally installed on the next power-up in the right folders. So, maybe you should put them there and see what happens on the next power-up.

    I just posted RGN_Tool v0.72 which adds support for RGN section FF (or 05FF in GCD). It will also allow to save a single section without boot as an RGN file, but not as a GCD file. I am not sure yet we can program anything without a boot in the GCD.

    RGN_Tool v0.72
    - Added support for RGN region FF and PK/text zip file.

    Hopefully, this fixes all the problems for your unit.

    Thanks!

    One small bug: File / "Open GCD" should be "Open GCD,RGN" or just "Open"

    @srauf

    You can extract text and keyboard .rgn with 7zip or winrar and manualy add on your nuvi.

    Correct. It seems there is only an "F8" rgn region in this file. I have no clue what to do with this section. Still, you can save the region to a .bin file if you want.

    I just improved strings searching in RGN_Tool. It is at least 5 times faster than what it was. This re-opens the possibility of making "Cure" firmware.

    Here's my proposition: I open a new window with a couple extensions to cure: IMG, GCD, GPX, ZIP, VPM, GPI. I also include a couple extra lines for user-specified strings to replace. There will be a check mark in front of each extension so you can specify which ones you want to cure.

    To simplify things, RGN_Tool will replace the specified strings by the same string, but with a swap between the 2nd and 3rd letter. For example, "IMG" will become "IGM".

    Question: For a cure firmware, should I get rid of everything except the boot and fw_all.bin?

    I found this too:

    Should I do this instead? Or as an option?

    Please post as much information as needed. For the extensions, make sure you type them with the right upper/lower-case letters. For example: "IMG" is not the same as "img"

    probably ddabcd277 option is the best, but if you can do both should be great
