    Hi dvazg,

    No. The tool is only useful to convert and install a different firmware to your GPS. For example, install the Sg/Mal firmware to a US 3790. So far, I have not found any ways to add new features.

    Theoretically, if there were a firmware of for example 1390 or 1450, would it be possible to install to a 1350 device? Hardware hardly differs...

    New Beta version 0.50 available: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    History:========

    v0.50 - Added MP3 patch for Chinese fw_all.bin to enable Media Player. See Tools menu.

    v0.44 - Fixed an issue where the HEID & SWV were not overridden in the GCD headers.

    v0.43 - Added "Save to GCD". Works for regular boot+fw_all[+resources] with single boot.
    - Improved GCD parsing - no more guessing
    - Automatically puts region 0E (fw_all) to second section when saving to GCD.

    Yes. Here's how to add MP3 to the chinese v220 firmware for the 37xx family:

    1- Use RGN tool to make a firmware using the US boot (if you have a US GPS) and the fw1_resources.bin and fw_all.bin from the CHN firmware (v2.30 at this time). Before you save to RGN, click in Tools patch the firmware with the MP3. Save and flash the fw to your GPS.

    2- Start the GPS and click "Where-To". Then "Search by Name", then type USMP3 or usmp3 and click enter (or finished?)

    3- A popup will appear and tell you the Media Player has been activated.

    Enjoy!

    Thanks to yingyong for reporting this to us from a chinese forum.

    v0.60 is available:

    • Added "Replace HWID test strings" checkbox. When enabled, this will search sections 0800 (boot.bin) and BD02 (fw_all.bin) to see if it finds HWID text strings and replace them with the HWID override value. This checkbox is automatically enabled when you enable HWID override. This is required to have the proper HWID value in the Inventory display and in GarminDevices.xml. This will make sure Garmin sends the update firmware with the proper HWID to your GPS.

    Default RGN_Tool v0.70

    What new ::
    -Added checkbox to preserve the .bin file order and disable auto re-order.
    -Added filename to command-line. You can drag gcd/rgn over RGN_Tool.exe to load or drag gcd/rgn file over the application to load. This allows you also to register .gcd or .rgn extensions to RGN_Tool which will invoke automatically RGN_Tool when double clicking on the gcd/rgn files.
    -You can also drag&drop rgn/gcd files over the opened instance of RGN_Tool.
