    Hi all

Can you help me step by step how to use this software? i have Garmin Nuvi 1490T US version, i live in Indonesia so i hope it should works normally viewing JCV, LA, etc. Mine is 0972 HWID. i've downloaded 1460 SW from Garmin Indonesia, extract it to find "GUPDATE.GCD", and found out the HWID is 1183.

    So, should i just
    1. open the "GUPDATE.GCD" from the 1490T US version, then save the "boot.bin"
    2. open the "GUPDATE.GCD" from the 1460 Indonesia version, load the "boot.bin" from 1490T US version that i saved before, then matching the HWID number = 0972
    3. export it as out.rgn
    4. enter pre boot mode and run the updater

    is that correct?

    Thanks!

Yes that will work ok, but be aware that saving as out.rgn [or any name other than 097201000xxx.rgn where xxx is a software version without decimal point] will flash in Updater.exe without prompt. You should optimally do a SW Version override as well. 'Other name' save such as OUT.rgn is only necessary if you are doing a full flash using the full cross-flash fw including it's boot.bin [not recommending in the case of US/EU 1xxx to Asian] because that will force a flash even if the unit's present and intended HWIDs don't match. You should also firstly remove or rename the US Voice, Text folders and for completeness the Keyboard folder and replace with the ID ones after the flash.

Unfortunately all US/EU fw 1xxx experience a crash/reboot error using Asian JCV as you probably know. For many other US/EU units we can just use syzygy's [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to mod the ID VCJ file.

SW version is the same between US and Indonesia, 6.20

For many other US/EU units we can just use syzygy's great tool to mod the ID VCJ file. <-- this is the reason that i want to convert my US version to the Indonesia version. i've used the Garmin Asian JVC tool, but it still crashed my nuvi 1490. is there any other option?

    Thanks!

Kind of OT here to go into detail. Open a specific thread in Discussions or Firmware section if you need further info. But, the short answer is no other option with US 1xxx if you want to see ID JCV you must convert to ID fw and safest way is retain US HWID 0972 and use original boot.bin.

RGN_Tool sets too low timeout value (0x2710) for region 0x0C (boot.bin) when creating RGN files.
When flashing such RGN files on some devices (for example, dezl 770) you can see the following error:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
I've attached the patched version with increased timeout (0x4000) based on the original version 0.84:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
