    Very interesting tool!

Is it possible to create a .img from MapSource (different City Navigator maps and Topo maps), rename it to gmapsupp.img and run this unlocker?

It is always possible to try.
    Why don't you?
    There is nothing to loose.
I know result, but I would like that you share your experience with other members.

    P.S.
If you create (transfer) map from MapSource it is already named gmapsupp.img, so no need for renaming.

I can't try, I don't have a Garmin unit available right now! Got 2 Nuvi, one is with my wife and the other with my father-in-law and they are traveling. My Nokia 5800 is so full I had to remove maps from it.

I ordered an Oregon, but until it arrives, no testing... :-(
I was asking because it seems a better way than MapReverse and Garmin Unlocker. I'm still figuring out what unlock method I'll use with the Oregon since Beta FWs are not allowing .unl or MapSource unlocked by Jetmouse

All methods are good if result is good.
I personally prefer when it is less work, so my choice would be - unlock once in MapSource and whatever combination you transfer to device - it is unlocked, but this solution with Fast IMG unlocker will work.

Version with ReverseConverter is not so complicated, because you have to convert only those that must be converted, and have to do it only once, and it has one more advantage - when maps are unlocked this way - no need for pached versions of MapSource, MapInstall, BaseCamp or any other Garmin program - maps are working with all original program versions.
And one more solution is to put all unlock codes (for all devices you have and all product ID's) in MapSource, and again you don't have to worry about unlocking in devices - MapSource is transferring all necessary unlock codes in gmapsupp.img. This way all your maps will be unlocked only for your GPS devices.

    Hey, thanks for your answer!

Me too, I prefer to unlock in MapSource. But I really liked this Fast IMG unlocker, mostly because I don't have to worry about Unit IDs. This will solve at least 2 of my problems... I usually share maps with friends, I won't need their IDs anymore... and the other is related to my future Oregon. I read the new beta firmware don't accept maps unlocked by the unl file or maps unlocked in Mapsource. I'll put all maps in the mSD and unlock it with this tool.

    Best regards!

    It is GREAT tool.
Don't worry about new Oregon - there is big difference between unlocked and not locked
Maps "unlocked" with [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] are not locked after unlocking
