The gmap version has worked very well for me in unlocking the contents of the gmap folder in the Mapsource installer for Europe 2011.20.

I already had an earlier version of Mapsource installed, so did not bother with the msi. I just parked the gmap folder in a temporary folder, extracted the rar file contents into the gmap folder and ran the bat file. It takes a bit of time to run through all 299 gmp files, but the command window shows progress.

Once completed I just deleted the unlock files and copied the gmap folder to the place where all the other gmap folder are installed on my PC (that varies between XP, Vista etc).

Ran the existing version of Mapsource, it detected the new map, and notes it is not lockable. Sent it to an SD card and it works in the Garmin device.

So no patching of Mapsource, MapInstaller and no need for keygen. Neat!

it worked great (thanks!) on my win7:

    fam unlocker - I renamed un.bat to un.cmd
gmap unlocker - I renamed un.bat to un.cmd and edited it: changed all ub.bat's to ub.cmd's

I copied the content of a fam/gmap folder to a temp folder and ran un.cmd from a cmd.exe window.
I renamed the original fam/gmap folder to 'bak', created a new folder named same as the original one, and moved all files from the temp folder into it.

after testing (no map problems in mapsource/basecamp), I deleted the 'bak' fam/gmap folder.

    Hi all,

Does this also work for gmaps that we use in basecamp/map installer on the Mac?
We have the same issue again with the latest versions, using Europe 2011.20, like we had with the OnRoute maps 1.5 on the Mac. This was then resolved with an update fromOnRoute. (and the new 1.63 versions)

RoadTrip works fine, also a very old map installer works fine, But I would like to use the latest base camp too naturally :-)

    Kind regards, Mathos.

Works fine indeed on the Mac. Need to "process" things on a Windows machine though :-( When done, as usual, simply copy the gmap stuff to the Mac in the appropriate directory.

I have just used it on the Europe NT 2011.20
Ran it in the original .gmap directory
Then ran the standard install (on the now unlocked maps)
    Fantastic.....

Thank you very much. Now the maps are unlocked. Problem is: how can I delete all the maps in my 2720 to install the updated ones? Using Mapsource or Mapinstall I can select the maps but I can't upload them on the 2720 since the software tell me that I've only 500Mb free on the unit.

    Thanks

    Default Brilliant

Catymag, thanks for the gmap unlocking software, its brilliant. Garmin seems to make it impossible to download the spain maps or to purchase them locally here in Australia so I dont feel too bad about downloading and unlocking.

    Cheers.
