Thanks for the step by step guide. Unfortunately when I run the install.bat I get an error message even though GmapTool appears to have converted file correctly. I also note that I get different set of files from those you show. MAPC%20Slides%20Draft%20DA1%20 %20MAA%20Comments%20JW.doc I am actually trying to load an .img map onto my Garmin 276C and was directed to this post via Smulan see Load .img map onto GPSmap 276C in Garmin discussions. Any help in achieving this will be appreciated! John

    Hi,

Try to execute install.bat in administrator mode : right click on the file, then "execute in administrator mode".

    Hi,

I'm too having problems using GmapTool converting a BlueChart G2.img (gmapsupp image file, 72MB) for MapSource.

I've created a list of 'split files' with mapset.img 5KB, and others. Also executed 'Install' either as normal or Administrator.
    The command shows:-
Map: "Trial" as I've named it
    FID: 6060
    PID: 10

It shows, adding to Registry Keys
    The Operation Completed Successfully
    The Operation Completed Successfully
    The Operation Completed Successfully
    The Operation Completed Successfully

Yet MapSource will not open any of the files from the split list Mapset.img, .mdx, .mp or .tdb saying " *** isnot a valid MapSource file and could not be opened.

    Any clues ??

If you can get a pc install of your map, unlock it, use Basecamp and build your own img and send it with Mapinstall.
This is the only way to have a fully functional map in gps.
Bluecharts Gmaptool splitted versions too will loose features, I think it's useful just for printing.

You need pc install, not an img.
