    All I wanted is the cgpsmapper URL removed from my maps!

    And I can't get a straight answer from the author of which one to buy that will remove the dumb URL nag.

    Please tell me how to get his URL poi out of compiled .img files, using Gmaptool with FREE cgpsmapper does not remove it for me.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi catymag. You seem to know a lot, so maybe you can point me in the right direction. I'm avoiding Garmin devices because I don't want to have one device for navigation and another for other functions. To this end, I am thinking PC (ie. PC Navigator). To further complicate matters I am in Japan where addresses are problematic. I found an image file, gmapsupp, and would like to use it in PC Navigator. Your excellent tutorial is for mapsource and without search fxns. Is there any way to get a map into pc navigator replete with search fxn?

    I've cruised the forum here for days, but there doesn't seem to be any info directed toward those without the whole Garmin package. Ironically, I can get a nuvi with the maps for Japan at a reasonable price, but it just doesn't give me what I want overall.

    I suspect that a few other people have been trying to hint at the same idea. Greatly obliged for any response.

    Hi all,
    After reading all this post, I don't find a solution to obtain the search street function in MAPSource when the MAPSource files are extracted from the img file.
    Is there a parameter to configure during the use of Gmap Tool ?
    Have a nice day.

    @Barbu35
    No. A simple preview map reverse-engineered using GMapTool loses search function, there is no GMapTool parameter to configure which will overcome this problem.

    There is a clear statement that you will not have search using this method in the last paragraph of Post #1:

    Better to use BaseCamp for viewing images.

    @inchica2009
    Select the "Write" tab, check "Mapset" and then insert your required mapset name into the field. e.g.:

    mapsetrenamegmaptool

    Then press either the 'Write all' or 'Write selected' button and the mapset name is changed. You will have to reopen the image to see the new info.

    EDIT: BTW, 2630 is the FID for 2013.10. Seems to be conflicting info in that map naming. 2013.20 FID is 2689.

    Hi, I had a problem when running this. The log shows

    _______________________________________________________________________
    Running compiler for preview map compilation.
    ""C:/Installed Programs/GMapTool/gmt/gmt.exe" -l "C:\Installed Programs\Garmin\TOPOCH/mapset.mp""

    gmt v0.8.67.594b CC BY-SA (C) 2011-2012 AP [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Wrong command -l
    _______________________________________________________________________

    So I then ran the command through a batch process.
    It failed
    _______________________________________________________________________

    "C:/Installed Programs/GMapTool/gmt/gmt.exe" -S -l "C:\Installed Programs\Garmin\TOPOCH/mapset.mp"
    gmt v0.8.67.594b CC BY-SA (C) 2011-2012 AP [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Wrong header (DSKIMG GARMIN), file C:\Installed Programs\Garmin\TOPOCH/mapset.mp.

    Help!

    You should join the .img files, not the .mp files
