I'm new to all this so will probably not be much help.
To me it seems the problem you are having is with Gmaptool right? You have not actually got to the point of trying it with MapSource?

As a test I downloaded the chart you are using, unlocked it using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Then ran it through Gmaptool (using cGPSmapper) chose a directory to save it to, gave it a name (blue) and entered the FID number (not sure if I had to as it is unlocked but did anyway) and checked the 'Create TDB for marine map' then clicked split selected.

After this it seemed to do it's thing and left me with the install files in the directory I chose. On opening Mapsource I seem to be able to see the map (see below) not sure if that is what you should see or not as I've never used BC's before!! Hope that helps you?

Hello. Thank you for the guide. Using those instructions I was able to unlock and convert CN Russia img file and see the map in Mapsource.
I have one question. The guide says that the map is without search capabilities and it really is. :-)
So how can I make map with search capabilities. Forum has so much info and it's really easy to get lost. Thank you.

Following the instructions, using the gmapsupp.img file for Thailand Street Map v8.0 I was able to create the files needed to install in Garmin MapSource, but am uncertain how to proceed as I am running Ubuntu Linux 11.04, and the files I created are in a folder on my Desktop and Garmin MapSource has to run under wine. Does anyone know how to proceed using a Linux OS? And thanks much as I have been struggling just to get this far for weeks now.

Very interesting you were able to load a BlueChart inbto MapSource.

    Which chart was it ?

Was it an old Bluechart or a g2 or g2Vision ?

    Thanks

I think install.bat won't run under wine. You can try to use MapSetToolKit, maybe it can install map for Mapsource under wine.
    Thanks, Kanopus

    Hello,

please, how can I create full index for search in MapSource. If I use img file (e.g. Thailand), then I create install file and install to MapSource. But in Mapsource is not possible to find place, only Find nearest place or recently found place.
How can I create map with fully index search?

    Thanks
    Jindrich
