Software update v8.30 for nuvi 3490/3590 disabled the use of "unlocked" Cyclops safety cameras.
You have to use "locked" Cyclops gpi files and unlock them using a safety_camera_xxxxxxx.unl file, as mentioned by Neil in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Don't forget to go to your windows Folder and File options -> View and uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types".
This way when you create the "New Text Document.txt" you'll rename both the name to "safety_camera_xxxxxxx" and the extension to "unl".
If you have this box checked and you create and rename the text file, its real name will be "safety_camera_xxxxxxx.unl.txt" and Cyclops cameras will remain locked on your device.

I have another method to fix the problem.
Just use decrypt_gpi.exe on locked or unlocked cyclops gpi file and it works on old or new firmware (no .unl file required)
I found this out by accident some time ago but there was no reason to post.

Maybe if it works for all Nuvi's you could post locked unlocked and decrypted cyclops.

I think that it works on any encrypted .GPI file (untested)

    Hi,

One thousand more easier to use than PGFT and the making of .unl files ! Thank you Dasilvarsa.

I downloaded new locked .gpi files, drag and drop each on decrypt_gpi.exe : unlocking took one half second for each .gpi files.

Then I tested on my Nüvi 68 (on simulation) for France and Italia : French danger zones and Italian cameras are well displayed.

It makes sense that decrypted unlocked GPI files universally work. It'd not thought to suggest trying that in this thread to the posters with recent protected units. Thanks for testing sergio2 and thanks dasilvarsa for suggesting it. BTW, osiris4isis also has a decrypt method for GPIs that post-dates syzygy's tool but it's maybe not been [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Thanks for all the tech advice.

Now know what to do if I have this issue on my nuvi units.

    Run in Wine:

Or better still just ask a neighbour. There's countless millions of old working XP PCs sitting in garages worldwide.

May be kenta2 can post decrypted pois instead of unlocked pois with PGFT.

    PGFT is ready for retirement
I hope the author will decide to update it to unlock properly signed maps and to unlock/decrypt Cyclops.
It was a great tool but now is outdated.
