    Default SCDB or Cyclops?

    Hi,

I'm looking to subscribe to one but have no idea which to go for for my Garmin device.

I've been reading up on both and am none the wiser. Which is better and why?

    Thanks,
    A

Recommending a Velox Package is like giving a tie: it is very difficult and inconvenient.
The only advice I can give is the following:
Since on Forum are both available, try them and then choose the ones you like most

Thanks, I appreciate your replies but it's hard to test as how can you tell which one is more accurate or has the most cameras over the other?

There is no definitive answer because it's an impossible question. One will be better overall [more accurate/more cam coords] in some Countries but even then maybe not in specific areas or even isolated pockets. If you want to armour-plate your a*se then just load both. You may get double warnings but you'll never miss a cam that way. The two .gpi files won't interfere with each other the way having two map .img files of the same areas can do in a Garmin device. Note that Garmin's Cyclops are encrypted so are not easily user-customisable [it is possible but requires advanced skills for little benefit] whereas SCDB are obviously easily user-custonisable. The other often overlooked point is that Cyclops Red Light warnings are directional so you don't get false warnings from other approaches whereas SCDB are radial so will alert even if the camera is not configured for your approach direction. Again, better unnecessary warnings than none though. Of course, the unsolicited, usually unwanted, carping but absolute best advice is don't speed and don't run reds EVER.

As Neil said, it's impossible to check what's covered by one or another and it's always better having double warnings than none. I use both and I am satisfied. When I paid speed fine I said to myself that it would be my third fine (first, last and never again). :D

    Hello,

The Cyclops or SCDB databases are very good files, only after regular use on some long trips with the highway, secondary roads may make you choose one or the other.
Personally, I much prefer the Cyclops database that gives me satisfaction throughout the year on the beautiful roads of my country with the wonderful 3597LMT.
