And another effect of this allerts. They change standard speed limit sign on the map (at europe map its a circle on the lower left corner).
Cyclop doesnt do this! On some places in Moscow they alert me about limt at 60km, while on map i see circle with 80 inside.
Spoiler: Screenshots (left one with osiris4isis alerts OFF via preferences menu)

I remember it was standart feature on 3490 devices, when we press by hand on this circle we can adjust speed limit manualy. And after this changes, we can find special file (i dont remember it name) containing our speed changes.
Looks like part of the software code of this feature continue present on other devices and with this type of GPI we can at background (if don't use icons and sounds inside GPI) change speed limits of the map
I don't understand. When you say "They change standard speed limit sign", who's "They?" Navitel, Garmin, Cyclop?
Are you saying that Cyclop alerts doesn't allow you to change speed while simulating by pressing the speed icon at bottom left? My alerts are Garmin alert's not Cyclop (that is they use Garmin alert record not Cyclop alert record)
Both screenshots looks non-Cyclop, so what do you mean "left one with osiris4isis alerts OFF"?
osiris4isis when You drive (in real life or in simulation) in lower left part of the mapscreen You can see current speed limit for this part of the road. In Europe it's a red circle with number inside it, in USA it has a square form. On my nuvi 3597 now installed two speed allerts: Cyclop and your's custom one.
When i drive close to speed-limit allert point, this two files do different things:
- Cyclop draw alert symbol, make sound and draw red colored text at upper part of screen.
- You file do much more: it can draw allert simbols on the map, play sound, draw gray text on the top of screen BUT ALSO change speed limit on the current part of the road. And on the screen we now see speed limit from You file, not implemented to the map by Garmin/Here/NavTeq.
On my screenshots i try to show: when i enable only Cyclop, this road have 60kmh restriction (left one), but when i enable Your file, same road speed restriction changed to 15kmh (right screenshot). Other word, Cyclop only show, You file can change the world
And i don't know (need to test), may be it also change a calculated road, because if some part of roads change inner limitation from 60 to 15, nuvi may find faster way by using other roads.
Garmin alert records, allow the setting of speed. The value from Navitel is probably from users (on their site there is a form that user submit) so it's accuracy/correctness is out of my hand. Cyclop alert records is proprietary but I managed to decode portion of it, enough to create it for Street Pilot (see other threads) And because it's different from Garmin alert record, its behavior/logic is different.
You can't change/fix Cyclop alert if there is error (only reports it and hope they fixed it); however, for my alerts you could change/fix errors. BTW, I'm looking for a decent 44x44 size icons to build for 3597 (I envy you guys); I will investigate .wav problem and rebuild with 44x44 soon.
Update: Here is the new build as promised; I took Cyclop icons, enlarged, enhanced and added speed for most major categories. I also re-converted the .wav files, lets hope it works.
