Will need testers soon to verified my theory. If anyone wants to help, tell me what resource you have (Garmin Nav units, phones running Street Pilot, etc...) I no longer have access to a Garmin Nav device so all of my testing will be on android. I'm observing behaviors of different types of alerts created via Creator Toolkit and I will posting my data soon.

Oh what tangle web we weaved. I was playing with Taiwan directional speedcam (created by Garmin) that have two new record types. This speedcam had "simple" voice announcement working on android Street Pilot. Since it's in chinese (name and description), it's hard to test and debug. But from the looks of it, it's putting the "voice data" in fields like Name, URL and GeneralText, interesting....
Here are the Taiwan map (unlocked) and speedcam (decrypted)
    Spoiler: .

When I tried to test this on android Street Pilot 800x480, it would crashed 99% of the time with "Unfortunately, StreetPilot has stopped." So for those with Nuvi please see if it works (no crashing) and for those with android please see if voice announcement is working as well. Voice announcement is just a number (for the speed?) and the 24x24 icon is just a number in white with red background. Waypoint/alert won't show up in search, so only way to know that it's loaded is to check General->About->Extra and Safety Cameras (it's "Garmin Twn V2012.10") Alert is just the basic POI of "Along Road" type using CircleList. What is interesting is that the speed alerts do not set/use the speed field of the alert record. So I wonder if alert will triggered based on speed.

Your decrypted speedcam (Garmin Twn V2012.10) works properly on my nuvi 3490.

FYI: there is also a more recent speedcam for this map - Garmin Twn V2015.10:

I have an ordinary ding-dong when approaching alert.

I split your gmapprom.img by means of GMapTool ("Create files for MapSource") and I connected it to MapSource through the registry. Then select the map via Maps/Load Mapsource Product in GPI_Viewer.

Thanks. I've extracted the .bmp files from .gpi and noticed that it has 48x48 as well as 24x24 (the old .gpi only had 24x24) Is your unit showing 24x24 or 48x48? I'm curious of how they specified to use 48 instead of 24 for a particular units. Also, like you said, there are 3 new bitmaps for the new categories. Do you know what they are for? The POI that I asked you to look up seems to contained DateTime restriction and I'm curious what sort of category uses that. What does the "Alert Info" button show for that POI? And I would like to know what categories uses the following bitmaps:
    1. Man/Women "bathroom" icon
    2. White camera with red background
    3. White dollar sign with blue background
    4. 2x4 white horizontal dashes with red background
    5. Black camera with red background
    6. White exclamation point with red background
    7. Exclamation point on top of road *NEW*
    8. X mark on top of road *NEW*
    9. Down arrow on top of road *NEW*
    Any ideas?

    Edit: Attaching bitmap dump

Maybe it's possible, that some of these categories/bitmaps are country related?
Or they are dynamicaly linked to the TMC information?

Could be, the Taiwan map is specifically made for Asus PadPhone? Unfortunately, I do not have PadPhone to test TMC function
I know for sure, Garmin did not use GPI Creation Toolkit 4.0 to make the .gpi because it has records and fields not possible to create using just Creation Toolkit 4.0 XML specs. Fascinating stuff!
