The pattern seem to be the longer the span, the more the bytes. So it might be that there are waypoints encoded (not as coords but maybe encoded-polyline or delta) This makes sense because if alert span across street intersection, there has to be a way to trigger it when driver entered from one of those cross street.

How to speed up the simulation mode?

To speed up simulation you press the speed limit and change the speed, but it will return to the "Map's Limit" as soon as you reach a new speed limit section of the road and you will have to change it again.

The tunnel is the Plabutschtunnel in Graz, its west tunnel is 10.085 Km and the east one is 9.919 Km so what is 8.98 from Garmin?
Another thing is that the south coordinate is way off the tunnel's south entrance, some 2.2 km to the west, so do we have wrong coordinates?
Those cameras (on both entrances) are Average Cameras with no speed indication on my 3490.
The "average" speed limit in the tunnel is variable (electronic signs) and normally is set to 100 Km/h, but according to Austrian authorities 60 to 94% of the 33.000 cars passing though (2011 data) are ....overspeeding.
The cameras are Front Cameras (frontal photos) at entry and exit points and even at 103 Km/h you ...pay!!!!

Garmin's map doesn't even have roads in there and the only camera (from POIplaza) is a Mobile Camera at 80 Km/h at the entrance, where the "true" speed limit changes from 80 to 70 and only if you travel on the east to west lane.
No matter the simulations I've done around the factory, I get no camera warning, maybe because the existing roads on Garmin's map are far away from those Cyclops waypoints.
If I move those 3 waypoints 450 meters to the south, they are on top of the right lane, as they should be in the first place.
So this must be a Mobile Camera (but at ....50 when the real speed limit is 70 or 80????) but with wrong coordinates in the file.

Below are the images of two parts of the same road.
The part that is between those, is a sub-terrain Tunnel, made for the community that is on either side of the highway.
The first is the south entrance camera, activated as you travel north and the second is the north entrance camera, activated as you travel south.

All three seem to have reasonable low speed warranted for school-zone, but since I can't read German, so I can't tell if there is a school near by. Also there are only 3 of this detector type in entire Germany and Austria, does this seem right for school-zone? Or maybe it's a temporary alert.
The black camera icons are Fixed Cameras at 50 (from POIplaza).
South of B_01 and north of C_02 are the points where Cyclops icons appear, and Cyclops warnings appear at about where the "sets of two" waypoints are.
On my 3490 those cameras are called Τemporary Cameras, both are at 50 Km/h

Analyzing this one first, as usual, great sets of info. Thanks x-trail!!
So it would seem that type=07 is temporary, the speed seem correct at 50km/h Description of direction also indicate consistency in position of coord1,2,3 as well.

The distant of 8.98km is not from Garmin, it's the distant between coord1 and coord2; I used a lon/lat distant calculator to get estimate of length of alert. I've pull the data again from Cyclop and this time I got the following instead. It's sectional with speed of 0 which seems to fit description of variable speed of average camera. Coords of original post (coord1 is about 2.35km too much to the east (not west) of the north (not south)) need longitude swapping (which I do not know why Cyclop does it or how to detect it; currently I'm kludging my code to detect and swap it) The coords below seem correct via auto longitude detection and swapping Wow, look at the amount of data included in this baby!

The mystery deepened. I pulled coords close to original data and I got the following, which doesn't show up on/near any street but clustered in same area. Could this be Cyclop errors? But since Garmin won't report alert unless on street, these errors won't get noticed so they won't get reported (Cyclop would ask how you get those coords and answer would be: ugh, we broke your encryption and decoded your format to get them, LOL!)

@x-trail, I'm trying to figure out type=08; fortunately there are only 3 in Germany/Austria map. All have speed of 0. Could you run simulator and tell me what alert they are? The first is not on street so it's probably Cyclop error.

@Neil, there are only 4 type=08 in Australia. First 3 has speed=0 and last one has speed=80km/h and seem to be tunnel. Could you run simulator and report the alerts?

True mostly, can only be done with some 2013 devices [3490, 3590] to a maximum simulated speed of 180 kph. In practice isn't very useful except on some long sections of single road trips because it's limited to road 'sections' as x-trail pointed out in Post #30. One turn or a section/limit change and it will revert to the posted speed limit.

Riveting stuff osiris4iris & x-trail. This thread should have more viewers than Game of Thrones soon i reckon.

    @osiris4iris
Will check those ASAP. Report later.

I've done the first two for Western Ring Road [East>West & West>East]. Rather that post a heap of screenshots in here, i've rared them. There are 2 folders for the two simulations.

    Some info:
Both Eastern & Western Start points are ~500 metres from the closest of your co-ordinates.
Both End points are about 730m from the closest of your co-ordinates.
    Both routes are ~3000m long.
East to West: Start point -37.692190, 144.96461. End point -37.69426, 144.92781
West to East: Start point -37.693801, 144.93060. End point -37.69152, 144.96461

The above will hopefully help you do the maths from the distances shown in the attached image files because there are no easily identified side-streets as in the previous Vienna Road shots.

Those are two Cameras in the same town of Fuhrberg and both are multidirectional (red dots on Basecamp's screenshot).
They are "Variable Safety Camera Zone" cameras, but being on the town's main road, their limit must be in reality from 30 to 50 Km/h (50 is the map's speed limit).
