    @Caty,
    It seems the Asus Padfone 2 has the exact same standard dashboard files as are in my 2455. Hashes match.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    CURRENT FREE DASHBOARDS OFFERED BY GARMIN:

    There are now currently 9 free dashboards being offered in two resolutions for 2xx5 and 34xx/35xx. They are Marge Simpson, Homer Simpson, Star Wars, Darth Vader, Yoda, Ernie & Bert, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and Wallace & Gromit:

    Yoda and Darth Vader the only carry-overs at present. Along with Dora & Sponge Bob (in 800x480 resolution only) for 34/35xx, those 2 are still available in Ballebar's Post #3. If anyone has the lower res 480x270 versions of Dora & SB for 2xx5, please post them.

    Match the Dashboard with the corresponding Vehicle and Voice and who knows, it just may keep the kids in the backseat off their iPods for about a millisecond or so.

    @Schermann

    Q1 Answer: You can use GIR Editor (link Post #15) to remove the *.png images and replace with your own (maintaining resolution size) but text cannot be edited at this stage (See Posts 10 & 20). EDIT: See following exchange between Giomen & turtle2 regarding text editing. Thanks Guys!.

    Q2 Answer: I think modding 40/50 fw to enable dashboard support would be a real challenge. Way above my pay grade anyway. But, why bother? The useless thing can't even get traffic. Tell ya wot ... if dasilvarsa's silly enough to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], i'll sell it to you cheap (but don't tell him that yet or he mightn't send it over). Non-sarcastic translation: Ummmm .... Too hard I think, sorry.

    Dashboard is closely tied with basic dashboard (usual screen) in software. If you can change text in some field of dashboard you may change a proprietary record in your locale text source (glx file). For test try change a text for Speed to Be easy!:

    <entry handle="MAP_SPEED">
    <strings>
    <string default="true">
    <visual>Be easy!</visual>
    </string>
    </strings>
    <usage visual="true"/>
    </entry>

    Thanks...but does not work!
    Might change it for the basic(default) dashboard, but not
    for alternate dashboards. Did not try on basic.

    Please write us what did you do exactly...
    It must work in any case because dashboard is not have any localization string and so all text record for each of all language may be in their locale text source (glx file) only!
    Do you edit correspondent glx file in Nuvi?

    I removed all text files except English on my GPS to be sure I was on the right file. Edit the file same place you showed..didn't work. Then just for sure, edited all Speed text in file for a test, and no change to the text showing in display on Nnvi 2555 for my alternate dashboard. Has to be hidden text in the dshb file. The files I changed were en_AV.glx and en_GB.glx. So if "Speed" is changed in glx on the GPS, and the text still shows up on the display, then has to be in the dshb file. Even went back to the files on the Gps, and ran a check for Speed to be sure it was changed to what I typed.

    Edit: Deleted all TEXT files on GPS and still the map display show the text of "Speed" on the screen?
    Has to be in the dshb file somewhere.

    The first, do you see modified text for speed in default or addition dashboards? If not I will tear my hair It is always work!!! If there is positive effect then your alternate dashboard have a flaw!

    Wait! I think the reason is simple! Your device use default text - American English. The problem that text resource for American English is hard-coded in the software. It is normal because you had deleted all text files there was possibility use default language in any case.
    You can try to change as above mentioned en_GB.glx and then choose British English in setting menu of device. Check it! It must work!!!
    By the way the problem with extracting of en_US.glx for editing or duplication with other name is not simple in comparison with many other devices! In new software (2xxx including) there are not allotted separate block a text descriptors and values. Plus pronunciation data for TTS and voice recognition is present in text file.

    My suggestion for glx is obvious for my:
    The first, dashboard is not multilingual file but text in dashboard appearance on all language even for made by users!
    The second, no language record in source of dashboard was found for now.

    P.S. Smallest chance but also you can try change:

    Code:
    Please Login or Register to see the links
    or
    Code:
    Please Login or Register to see the links
    In this case you must see one of Be easy variation in all dashboard.
