Default Garmin Tour Guide map of New Zealand DOC Camping sites.

POIs AND DETAILS OF NEW ZEALAND DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION (DOC) CAMPING SITES (LOTS OF PHOTOS AND DETAILS INCLUDED)

This file can be downloaded and placed in your GPS unit to search for details on DOC camping sites.

Note that actual POI itself is avaiable on the current NZOGPS street maps however it has limited details.

This "add-on" aims to showcase what is possible using Garmin's POI LOADER and tour guide map concept.

One other feature which I haven't added is the functionality to add spoken instructions or music to each POI.

    Source data

This was created based on the publicly available PDF files on DOC website around Feb 2010 (full-list-of-north-island-campsites.pdf and full-list-of-south-island-campsites.pdf)

    FEATURES AVAILABLE

Includes the following features (all courtesy of DOC):-

    • photos of actual camping site
    • available facilities at site - eg. tap water, picnic tables, cooking facilities, boat ramp, hot or cold showers, rubbish recycling, rubbish removal, wheelchair access able, pet friendly, fire restrictions etc
    • cost of camping sites
    • how to get there
    • access requirements - eg. sealed, gravel 4WD only, boat only etc
    • activities and special features of the site - eg. lakeside setting, walks, tramps nearby, fishing, hunting, bird spotting etc

Working fine in a 1390T, in XT the POI text overwrites on the screen but it's still useable. Impressive work.
