help Citroen DS5 eMyWay (RT6? system) backup

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and I'm seeking some advice re how to backup my eMyWay system.
I'm in Australia and Citroen here says it only updates on an annual basis and it costs approx $700AU, this seems like a rip off, I could buy a portable unit for a lot less with lifetime map updates.
I think it's a RT6 (not sure about model) it's fitted to a Citroen DS5 and I'd like to learn more about it.
A few questions that some may be able to help me with:
How do I identify exactly what model it is and what version firmware, maps etc - manuals say very little?
How do I update and is this possible, I understand that the dealer would use a USB to update?
Can I backup the system to USB and access the data?
If I can't update it myself, is there another way to load "another manufacturers GPS system" e.g. Garmin etc onto it so that I can use it and make it easier and possibly cheaper to update?
Any advice or help would be appreciated, many thanks in advance.
    David

    Hi smudge51,

    - How do I identify exactly what model it is and what version firmware, maps etc - manuals say very little?
The easiest way is to browse to the image of the unit on the Internet. If it's an e-MYWAY then, like so: "CitroŽn DS5 eMyWay" [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
I dont know where you can find the firmware version number of the eMyway unit (I have SMEG+), but usually hold on a navigation button after appears the firmwere version. You can check the version of the map in the map settings menu.

    - How do I update and is this possible, I understand that the dealer would use a USB to update?
If you think a map update, you can do it with a USB drive. Corresponding to the rt6-emyway-wip-nav map pack. In this forum you can find: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    - Can I backup the system to USB and access the data?
    NO

    - If I can't update it myself, is there another way to load "another manufacturers GPS system" e.g. Garmin etc onto it so that I can use it and make it easier and possibly cheaper to update?
    NO

    Hi Hokutya
Thank you for your response, much appreciated!
I will try and see what happens when I try a few button presses.
I have seen the Europe map updates on here, there just seems to be NO maps for Australia or Speed Cams for Aust.
I just wish I could add them and keep the maps up to date without having to rely on the dealer (there is only ONE dealer in Adelaide - so they can do what they like with charges etc).
    I will continue to seek..
    Again, many thanks, cheers David

    Hi smudge51,

Excuse me, but I ignored that you have posted from Australia, and local maps are looking for. I have not yet met Citroen map outside Europe.

p.s. I dug a bit on the net and and found map outside the EU.

    Hi Hokutya
Yes you are right, I have not been able to find anything either.
If I find anything I will let the forum know.
    Cheers
