    hot Global Mapper

You ever wanted to make your own maps?
Tried to convert a map into a differt Projection or even format?
Well, if you did but always failed or thought you need to many programs to do it, there is a solution!
Global Mapper, the Swiss army knife for mapping doe it all and much more.
There are too many features to name them all, so for a full overview check their website.
But to download online data for your own maps, including 3D PDF maps, there is nothing much easier out there.
You can export into verious formats and if your specific one is not supported you can always export in a different format that can be imported, like the ECW format for Ozi Explorer.

    Included things in the download:
There is the 32 and the 64bit version, so choose what will fit your system.
    Also a patcher and Sanboxie.

    How to install:
If you are happy with the free version or you just want to check it, simply use the installer for your system and you are done.
In case you want to use all features you should follow these instructions carefully as the patcher is reported to be infected:
    1. Install the GM version of your choice
    2. If you want to use online data you have to allow internet access for GM!
    3. Install Sandboxie - this is a safe area for using all suspicious or even malicious programs as no harm to your system can be done.
Read about sandboxes on Wiki if you don't know how good they are.
    4. No need for the keygen as Sandboxie will work fine as the free version, you just have to wait a few second when starting a program.
    5. Copy the GM patcher into the install directory of GM
    6. Do a right click! On the patcher and select to run in the sandbox!!
    7. When you done with the patching do a right click on the sanboxie icon in your task bar, default box, show contents.
Browse for the location of the GM folder in the sandbox and copy all files from there into the real GM folder on your PC.
This means you copy the contents from the save sandbox into the real world and clode the patcher.
After that you can delete the contents of the sandbox and enjoy GM with all features.

The above procedure might not be necessary but as the patcher is got several hits on virustotal and no other options are available it is the safest way.
Again, when following the instructions no harm can be done to your system and the patched files will be clean.
I could not see any suspicious behaviour or harmful activity by the patcher, but it is better to be save than sorry!

You can download the whole pack [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Current version is the 15.0.5, I will try to keep major releases updated here.
Use this if you have problems with Winrar:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

That happens if you are not a Garmin user...
Was not aware we have dedicated thread for the program.
But I think I still leave this one for us Ozi users.

Yes, probably easier for Ozi users to retrieve it and go and post in that thread for infos and testing.
    Thanks

Thanks downunder, that's a neat trick using Sandboxie. I use it for suspect keygens but thought patching would involve many registry changes so not practical.

Incidentally I must have been the last person on Winrar 4. After downloading your upload several times and getting an unknown format or damaged error message, I remembered reading elsewhere that Winrar 5 is not backwardly compatible. So OK now.

RAR file will not open using 7 zip. Error: "Cannot open file '\GM_15.0.5.rar' as archive." Downloaded file thrice to make sure no errors occurred during transfer with same result each time.

Nevermind! Was trying to open the file through the 7-zip shell extension, but it worked when opened through WinRAR.

Winrar is free and if you don't use it on a daily base the free version will do just fine.
7zip and other free tools might be good but can't handle the new RAR archives at this stage.
Keys for Winrar can be found on the net in the hundreds...

Sorry, but Winrar is not free. I have a working version 3.8 and I don't want to replace it by a version with nagging screen. I have to use it quite often since most files here are rar packed.
