How to Convert a Garmin IMG to OZF2

Garmin IMG is a file associated with Garmin GPS products. It contains navigation routes, map data, points of interest, streets names and other data. You can customize a Garmin IMG file and upload it onto any Garmin device. OZF2 is the file extension type for the OziExplorer GPS mapping software. The software is compatible with other GPS devices and receivers, such as Garmin, Magellan, Eagle and other GPS products. OziExplorer can upload and download map routes, waypoints and tracks. You can convert your Garmin IMG to OZF2 by using an Img2ozf map converter.

1Download and install the Img2ozf program

2Navigate to the Program Files folder on your computer. Find the folder entitled “OziExplorer” and double-click Img2ozf to launch the program.

3Click the “Map Conversion” tab at the upper-left of Img2ozf.

4Click the folder icon beside “Source Map Folder” to locate a folder where the Garmin IMG is stored and then press “OK” to load the IMG into Img2ozf.

5Click the “Folder” icon next to “Destination Folder” to save the OZF2 map on your hard drive.

6Click “Convert Maps” to convert a Garmin IMG to OZF2.

    Hi

Maybe I am missing something. Must the Garmin file (ex. - GMAPSUPP.IMG ) be renamed ?

The program do not recognize a xxx.img file.

According to the help file, the image types are:- PNG , TIF . JPG , BMP , ECW and SID , HDR and RML , KAP (BSB) , CAP (BSB4) , OZFX3 files converted from BSB4 charts cannot be used with PC OziExplorer. , KOMPASS , NOS (NOS/GEO) , OZF2 , OZF

    Regards

    Stefan

I stand to be corrected, BUT, I think that your understanding is quite correct in that Img2Oxf2 does NOT convert (Garmin) img file to Ozi at all. What it will do is to convert some other "standard" form of image files to Ozi - BUT alas definitely NOT GARMIN vector img files.

Unfortunately, the process of getting vector to raster is just a little more complicated than this.

You should use Goblal Mapper for the conversions.

    Hello!

Sorry for bumping such old thread, but I have same mission.
I'm trying to convert Garmin IMG vector map to some raster map. Perfect would be ozf2/ozf3/ozf4, but even ordinary image will do.

Any tools to convert IMG vector map to raster?

GPSMapEdit can, depending on what format the IMG is - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Some formats of IMG it won't handle.
The free version can save them in the OziExplorer .map format that uses a BMP for the image.
Convert from IMG to .mp format, then import the .mp file/s, export as .map.

Excuse me, the img2ozi ver. 3.00 link is out of line. In the official page the version to download is 3.2, which can't convert to ozf2 files. Can anyone upload the img2ozf_setup_300 file, please?
    Thank you very much...

Mmmhh... I answer myself. The img2ozf v.3.00 can't save ozf2 files. The version 2.8 can. It can be downloaded from:

I let that here because it could be useful.

    Regards.
