Cheaper 'no name' are a lottery. That Verbatim DVD-R SL 16x Azo is the exact same disc i've used all along for both C1 [toyota] and C2 [MMC/Subaru etc] since V18. That's 5 discs for each version, so 15 in all and every one of them has worked without problems. I bought a bulk pack of 50 after trying a couple of the single discs in jewel case as you've linked, got the 50 pack on special from Hardly Normals if i remember correctly, used many of them to backup my DVD movie library at 16x also w/o problem after compacting under 4.7GB with DVD Shrink.

Burn one of those at slowest possible [6x, preferably less] in a good burner and i bet it'll work without problem.

Had a few hiccups when trying to remember how to burn the disc but a quick google search solved that.

    Works a teat - thanks.

Only time will tell if i have any further dramas.

Hi guys, I was having issues with the v19 disc (kept asking me to re-insert media, when it was in there). I went back to my official disc as an interim fix.

But now my MMCS unit keeps losing all of it's settings (as though the battery has been disconnected). Really infuriating as it can happen multiple times per week. I've had stretches where it's fine for 2-3 weeks and just when I think it wont happen again....it does.

Anyone ever come across this? Any ideas?

I know that MMCS doesn't record changes and potentially lose memory if it turned off completely e.g. lose power when acc power is disconnected. When you turn off the car MMCS is spinning it's fan for approximate 30 seconds and then goes off. Maybe you have issue with the power.

The only thing that has changed is a power powerful battery. I might re-check the connections to make sure it's done up tight.

For sure a loose or failing power connection will cause the unit to drop its volatile memory which then 'wipes' the firmware and settings. An OEM disc would need to be inserted because they're the only ones with full fw [LOADING.KWI] on them. Map update discs, 'official' or copies, have LOADING.KWI but it's not the full firmware, only occasional incremental updates.

    G'day @terrytb, welcome to GPSPower.

IE does still cause problems for big download files. It that's what you used try again with FF or Chrome.
