    Default Igo Primo 2.4 Incomplete Voice Guidance

    Hello All,

    After searching for hours I couldn't find a satisfying solution.

    My device is:
    Caska CA260-A
    cortex a9 800 MHz
    256mb ddr
    256mb flash
    7" 800*480
    WinCE 6.0

    And I use Igo Primo 9.6.13.267029 on this unit. No DEM, TTS, 3D landmarks. It is bare minimum. Loads and exits fast enough, all functions are OK and fast enough. But I have a problem in voice guidance. The radio is on background, for example she will say "ding, you exceeded speet limit" but she says "..u exceeded speed limit". She always swallow som part of fisrt Word. If radio is not on, it is OK. It is also OK in emulator. But I couldn't solve the issue. There are many options for [sound] but I dont know how they exactly affects the output. Any help is appreciated.

    Spoiler: tekst
    ding_muted=1

    Try changing "pause_mp3_sooner=1-2" to "pause_mp3_sooner=2".

    Thank you for your quick response jtrosky. What does "pause_mp3_sooner" parameter do? The background audio source is FM radio, does this parameter also work on FM radio? Regards.

    The name is misleading. Really, what it does is that it mutes the audio (any audio, not just mp3's) from the radio sooner, so that the first part of the TTS instruction doesn't get cut off. This setting worked for me on my Advent OGM-1 2DIN radio (it was having the same issue that you're having).

    Setting "pause_mp3_sooner" to 1 will mute the radio audio a little sooner and setting it to 2 will mute the radio audio even sooner than it does when set to 1.

    I have a feeling that will solve your issue. Having it set to "1-2" basically does nothing (has to be "0", "1" or "2").

    Let us know if that helps...

    To investigate the issue I decompressed a random data.zip file from primo distributions. There is a folder in it, called "devices". And there are files in it, specific for some devices. These files contain some modifications for sys. There were over 700 files, I combined these files' sound section programatically, then I created the list above. Actually I don't use these commands. I just want to Show you the options that can be changed. 1-2 means, it can be "1" or "2". By the way I omitted some unnecessary items in the list.

    I don't use TTS by the way, I use natural voice.

    But your explanation and solution really makes sense. As you point out, I think the sound mixer of the Caska is not fast enough to cut the radio sound and let the igo sound out. So the first Word of igo voice command is cut.

    Thank you for your help, I will try and let you know.

    Do you have the chance of sharing your sys.txt's debug and sound sections?

    Regards.

    Edit

    Hello Again,

    I did some road test with the following sys.txt file:

    Spoiler: sys
    [debug]
    experimental_features=1

    [gps]
    port="1"
    baud="38400"

    [interface]
    extra_settings=1

    [other]
    demo_enabled=0

    [sound]
    pause_mp3_sooner=2
    queue_length=200

    [vr]
    disabled=0

    The result is obviously better. Not perfect, but it is satisfying. All directional voice guidances (like "After 80m, turn right") are complete, no missing words or letters. But sometimes it still swallows a couple of letters while saying "you exceeded speed limit", anyway, not a big problem for me. Nothing is perfect

    I think this issue is related to unit's sound mixer and iGO compliance. I use LUA voice and maybe CSV voice performs better.

    I gave up and just will enjoy the software.

    Thanks again jtrosky
