Ah Jeez! I usually get caned for saying too much. However, you Osiris pick on me for not explaining enough ..... I can't win.

Short answer, I'm not sure why. But I think it's because eventually a boot cycle skips over loading maps and that's not by design, just a fluke. I've also seen healthy devices do that but rarely, where the map page doesn't have any roads or info showing just as if the device doesn't have a detail map loaded for the location. A re-booting of the misbehaving healthy device does fix that, provided it's because it's 'skipped' loading maps. Usually a hard-reset or clean nonvol is required which is because of a different problem again though, albeit the same symptoms with no map details.

    Happy now Mr Pedantic?

So it's just a long timeout and having AC power allow it to timeout. For now, an acceptable answer.
BTW, I saw situation of "where the map page doesn't have any roads or info showing just as if the device doesn't have a detail map loaded for the location" once running Street Pilot on android. And I had to re-installed Street Pilot to fixed it.
Do not PM me with questions. That's what a forum is for.

Wow. A crumb of appreciation from His Magesty's well-laden table. Thank you my liege.

Thanks be to God I know very little about SP on Andoid. However, if Garmin devices didn't have the comprehensive hard-reset or clear nonvol available they'd be frequently completely hosed because us aren't able to do anything meaningful with their OS. At least with Android, iOS and similar types of OSs including Windows it's possible to not only re-install software programs but of course customize, repair and even re-install the actual OS. Garmin doesn't let us anywhere near that far into their secrets of course, although the OS does appear to be Linux-based but very indirectly so. About time some smart coder did something about that isn't? Better than spending your time picking on a lowly journeyman you should be cracking G's closed OS. Good luck with that ........

This was my first idea, but I worried if this would work and wanted to be on save side following the entire unbricking process as described in the PDF in this forum.
    However, saved 75 euros ☺
But I guess I have no an American Firmware, the speed limit info does not show German traffic signs.
    Can this be changed?

The 'Speed Limit Indicator' feature is from info contained in the detail map and the ability to display any posted speed limit is enabled in 2xx9 firmware. Some minor streets don't have the info in the map so the limit can't be shown, however ALL major European roads have the feature in HERE maps. All North & South American and European localized devices use the same firmware as do others like Australian, New Zealand, South African models. That firmware is known as US/EU generally and your device uses it. However, although some features can be default enabled/disabled by the Locale selected on initial setup or after reset, it would be surprising that selecting 'Germany' would disable SLI. If you haven't reset it since un-bricking it you should do a 'clear nonvol' to see if that fixes it. It's the immediate first aid for any device acting strangely: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Reading your post again, it may be that you're asking about the style of the SLI rather than it's absence. If so, perhaps you have the first rather than the second of these images displaying:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] If that's your problem, the 'sign' type is determined either by the map itself or the Locale selected and can't be changed by the user in settings.

You're lacking required files probably they haven't been replaced after the format. Check you have all Text and Keyboard files as well as Deutsch TTS voices and Help files after extraction and replace what's missing from below:
    Spoiler:
Deutsch Voices: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Text folder (all files): [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Keyboard folder (all files) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Help folder (all files)[Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Probably the basemap is also missing (gmapbmap.img in .System folder), you need that for reliable navigating and route planning so if it's missing you'll need to source one and replace it.

    Kenwood DNX-5260BT, HWID 1083
System is loading with repeated messages LOADER LOADING , LOADER, SOFTWARE LOADING and SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING and then restarts.
Putting in PREBOOT mode - LOADER LOADING , LOADER, SOFTWARE LOADING (no SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING message) and reboot again.
I could put BOOT.bin to LOADER or WEBUPDATER, but when i am putting FW_ALL.bin process is starting but i am getting an error at up to 70% of the process (different number every time, depends of starting time).

PS: Fixed with BOOT.RGN converted from BOOT.BIN

If this is often questioned I'm sorry. Here's the problem with Garmin Nuvi 250W not going past "GARMIN" without anything else start up status and will not go into preboot mode even tried all the software including garmincure3 (updater error pops up when attempting to start updater and will not do anything else). The reset button does not help either.
Is there a way to get HWID (I can open the garmin up if know where to look or serial number decoded?) even cannot use G7ToWin utility due to failing to enter into preboot mode?

The official garmin express, win updater will not find the 250W either. Even tried garmin usb driver. Did not activate when connected.

    Thank you and cheers, insearchof
