I am a little confused. So with the correct voice files, I do not have to install extra TTS app, if my Android has Google TTS installed?

If google TTS already works on your phone, you should be able to use it if you have the correct voice TTS file. No confusion, pretty simple.

    Hello,

I have read several threads regarding iGO Primo for Android and how to get TTS Pro to work. There are several different ways, different engines, different voices, different settings, and different instructions. I know there is never a perfect solution when it comes to TTS voices on android versions of iGO Primo. But at a certain point, it just gets ridiculous to read and read and read with no straight answer. Trust me, I have read so much that my eyes are bleeding.

In my honest opinion, without sounding rude or disrespectful - there are way to many threats with way to many problems. And the problems start because the instructions are not given in detail. People are only posting very short instructions, and assume that others will be able to understand what is meant. This is not a good formula.

Additionally, as you can see, I speak full English (and Spanish). The problems with understanding instructions are born from all the broken English that exists in this forum. Sorry, I do not mean to be rude. But it is the truth. This is a common problem within international organizations. This happens because of the language barriers. Short instructions with incomplete details, written in broken English, and then read by others who also speak broken English will ultimately compound the issue with understanding what it meant. Honestly, after reading all these posts, I come out even more confused than when I started. 75% of the time I am trying to figure out what the person is trying to saying

In an effort to find common ground, can we begin with stopping the short instructions please? Opening instructions should be step-by-step in order to reduce confusion. These instructions should then be "sticky" so that 10 pages later, when someone has updates to the instructions, they are updated on the 1st post as well. There are too many examples of someone following short broken instructions they read on post #1. Then they do not realize that the instructions are old or invalid because of an update that is posted 8-10 pages later. That is the biggest problem.

I'm just trying to suggest some helpful ideas in general.

I'm going to sleep - I have a headache now because of all the reading and confusion
Someone please let me know when there is finally a detailed "how-to"....... For example the instructions on post #1 say to create a folder called VocalizerEx. But then it says copy voices to a folder called Vocalizer??????? And do you mean copy the voice folder (ex. eng), or do you mean copy the actual raw voice files that are inside the folders, that are inside the folders, that are inside the folders????? Anyone who is not familiar will not know what is meant. Hence, this causes confusion.

And for those who were able to understand the instructions, please tell me the secret to understanding

Thank you all for your efforts and hard work. I honestly am grateful for sites like this

    Hello Iam,

I have the same exact issue you describe. I have a car Android Head Unit (KitKat 4.4.4). When I use a regular voice in Igo Primo, my head unit work properly. For example, if I am playing radio/mp3 music - when the GPS voice speaks directions the radio/mp3 becomes muted. Once the GPS finishes speaking the directions, the radio/mp3 music comes back. This is 100% the way it should work.

However, when I use a TTS Pro voice in Igo Primo, my head unit does not work properly. For example, if I am playing radio/mp3 music - when the TTS Pro voice speaks directions the radio/mp3 DOES NOT become muted. Instead, the radio/mp3 music and the TTS Pro voice play at the same time, and at the same volume (actually the TTS Pro voice is lower in volume). This is not the way it should work.

I tested my head unit by using the Google Map GPS. Google Maps always uses TTS voices. When I use Google Maps, the radio/mp3 music becomes mutes. This is 100% the way it should work. So why does Igo Primo not work in the same way?

Did you ever find a solution to your problem? What is your device?
If you found a solution, please please please share it with me. I have read every forum, including xda-developers and I do not see a solution to this issue (some other people have similar issues).

    Thanks,
    ggee

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, and if not I apologize, but is it possible to change/add voices using a method like this in an in dash head unit such as a pioneer avic 5100nex? I don't think I am actually running android on it to be able to install other TTS apps am I which would be needed for this? This is very new to me and was curious if I could use a method like this to find cool/different voices to add to my GPS or if it wouldn't work.
