Default what is basemap.fbl used for?

    hi,

    sorry for asking newbie questions..
    1. can anybody explain what is basemap.fbl used for? is it still required to be put in the sd card in addition to, of course, the country map? seems that it's already working well without add basemap.fbl.
    2. how many map/poi/dem/etc providers are there for igo primo? such as tom tom, teleatlas, naviteq? and what is comparison, and which one is the recommended one?
    3. adding other country maps in the contents/map will automatically add those maps in the igo primo? And if yes, i think it will make the gps working slower , wont it?

    thanks very much.

    thanks.
Basemap.fbl provides an overview of the earth as a whole. It only comes into play if you zoom out past the boundaries of your current map. If you don't need that functionality it can be left out.

    So Basemaps are very useful

    Have fun

Hi... thats ok... we are very quick here with support

    In your nr. 2

There are plenty provider to maps and ect.. also Topmap from very local provider as well
Those local provider are just very local, and have nearly all roads in that country.
If you live in the north of Europa then use TomTom maps, and if you live in the Eastern Europa then use Navteq or Topmap
To use from different provider are up to you what you want to use.
But don't mix the maps from those Maps-provider, use only from one provider.

    In your nr. 3
No... the GPS don't run slower, you can have so many as you want to have and use, depend of your size of your sd-card
Your GPS software only use that memory to run and showing that map you have to use and nothing else

    Hope that help you out

    Have fun

Gere some adittional info belllow about basemap function,

The base map is necessary for basic navigation appropriate to represent where you are located and to see the boundaries of countries (the approach to them or removing scale to the size of the earth ball ).For routing , it is not necessary. It doesn't have some real practical function, but where is no map of some country, and we drive near to that country, and no borders , without basemap in this case we'll see only a great big white spot, but if we use basemap, then we can see at least an approximation to the borders of countries that are not in contact with country through we driver.

However, not bad to have it in map folder, my suggestion leave it there.

Basemap is necessary if you travel abroad of your country and if in your MAP folder are maps from different providers.
The basemap is like a support(template) where the maps are fixed like in a puzzle and which is helping the GPS SW to could route to destination, if your route starts from one country and end into an other.
Generally if you use the maps from only one provider, Basemap isn't necessary.
On the other hand, the basemap is not slowing your device.
My advice is to have the basemap in MAP folder.
