    Default Nav N Go iGO 8 v8.3.2.64029 (Nov 7 2008) - official retail R3 PDA version

    Nav N Go iGO 8 v8.3.2.64029 (Nov 7 2008) - official retail R3 PDA version
    Requirements: Microsoft Windows Mobile, operating system 300 MHz processor, 64 MB memory, QVGA, VGA or WVGA touch screen display
    Overview: The new software version, optimized for PDAs, features several new functions designed to facilitate en-route navigation. When driving on a highway, exits are easier to identify, as the program displays signposts and road signs. When approaching the next maneuver, the program simplifies navigation by only displaying the most important street names, so they can be more easily identified. What's more, the new version of Nav N Go iGO 8 is also available in new resolutions, and requires even less memory, which means it will run on a significantly increased number of devices. Supported resolutions are: 240x240, 240x320, 240x400, 320x240, 320x320, 400x240, 640x480, 480x240, 480x800 and 800x480

    1. Download and unrar the content of the archive to your SD Card.
    2. Insert the SD Card into your device, iGO autorun should pop-up. Follow the onscreen installation instructions.

    NOTE: Users having trouble with Autorun on their devices, remove 2577 folder and rename application.dat to iGO8.exe. Then run iGO8 as usual, either directly from File Explorer, or create a shortcut to Programs menu using i.e. Total Commander CE

    Big THX flies to SkyRocker, who did an excellent job by getting and supplying this version for us in a very short time period

    IMPORTANT NOTICE: You may use this software for evaluation purposes only. If you like it, it is strongly suggested you buy it to support the developers. By any means you may not use this software to make money or use it for commercial purpose.

    Enjoy,
    JM

    Its a common problem with the 2(two) November releases. All though they say Full Version, its not. Its an upgrade and you'll need to download the recent maps. It'll take the voices and Language from old version(example, June 2008).

    I had this problem as well and had to install June version, then do the upgrade and upgrade the maps. I've read from experienced users of iGO8 that there isn't much difference in the software, just the maps are better quality, better POI's and 3D buildings(where available).

    Good luck.

    PD: I just got mine working yesterday after 2 weeks of trying to get over that No Voice problem. Solution was as I explained.

    Default iGO8 + HTC Touch HD

    Hello to everyone,
    this is the very first time I post.
    I had problems starting iGO8 on my Touch HD so, after solving, I want to share my experience.
    Fisrt I connected my PDA/Phone to USB and using it as a USB drive I copied only iGO8 folder to SD storage card root.
    Then, according to artful's installation instructions, I renamed application.dat into iGO8.exe.
    Please notice that the software comes without map, building, dem, poi, voices so I
    I downloaded pincopal's

    Nav N Go iGO v8.3.1.57021 (Sep 25 2008) + Full EU 2008.7 map

    in order to grab all the stuff nedded for navigation.

    I live in Italy so I extracted just Italy's related files and copied them into proper folders.

    The last step to do to make iGO8 working on Touch HD is to edit the provided sys.txt
    with the lines below

    [project]
    name="igo8_pda"

    [folders]
    app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

    [interface]
    maxzoom2d=6000000
    show_exit=1
    skin="ui_igo8"
    resolution_dir="480_800"
    maxzoom2d=6000000
    screen_x=480
    screen_y=800
    vga=0

    [device]
    sdcard_dsk_num=7

    [rawdisplay]
    highres=0
    screen_x=480
    screen_y=800
    class="portrait"
    driver="GDI"

    [map]
    2dheadup=1

    [msnd]
    enabled=0

    [timezone]
    sync_os_timezone=0
    reset_os_timezone=0

    [debug]
    sound_q_length=200
    queue_length=200
    disable_outlookpoi=0
    show_oneway=1
    show_speed_limit=1
    skip_eula=1
    enable_roadshadow=1

    This is not stuff of mine as I found it at forum.xda-developers.com

    but it works on my device.
    That's all folks, and best wishes for this new year

    PS. I tried to add attachments and links but I can't as my post count is 0

    Hey Bobe, thanks for your post. I will try to follow your instructions because I could not get iGO to work on my touch hd, but please be more specific about what files you got from pincopal's version to the one on this thread. thanks!

    Default iGO8 + HTC Touch HD + et al

    Hi tudork, well I used a dummy approach.
    We have two versions
    The one in this post without navigation files and picopal's huge version
    I extracted nav_nov7pda.rar and then I installed it into my HD.
    Than I simply copied the following files from pincopal version
    Italy.3dc and Italy.3rd into \Storage Card\iGO8\CONTENT\BUILDING
    Europe_NASA.dem into \Storage Card\iGO8\CONTENT\DEM
    Italy.fbl into \Storage Card\iGO8\CONTENT\MAP
    Italy1.poi and Italy2.poi into \Storage Card\iGO8\CONTENT\POI
    After that I edited sys.txt
    That's all,
    Ciao,
    Bobe

    Hello Bobe, and thanks again!
    I will have to bother you a little more, maybe you can find the time to help us here. I followed your posts on xda developers but the thread on iGO just got too crazy for me, with over 70 pages and hundreds of versions of the sys file and of the data file and so on..
    So. I found a torrent with the iGO 8.3 version that has some Content folder things (voices), I have a Romanian map file which I copied in Content/Maps. I dont have POIs but oh well.. its fine. I used your sys file. I put everything on my card. Of course it did not work. It says that it cannot find the original content or something like that. Tell me, should I unzip the data archive in the main iGO folder or should it stay as it is?
    Thanks!

    Hi Tudork,
    I simply extracted pincopal's rar file into a folder on my computer than I copied files into iGO8 subfolders with my HD connected as a USB hard disk (i.e. I did not tranferred files using Active Sync). Same procedure for sys.txt

    Hope this can be useful for you.
    Ciao,
    Bobe

    Can anybody tell me where I can download the maps and inform me on how to install them? I guess they should be copied to content/map, but I would like to know if there is anything else I should consider...Thanx in advance for your support!
