    Tool Special tool for Master

/ 3 Safety digging in the file /

    Welcome to Navigator's

    932113supertools132l140x140

    We have written many times about operations on files, but due to the fellow asked questions (type - where? And how?) - Decided on the "dig" .;

Principle I. * .zip files with iGO not unpack .. Is this (for all Windows XP, in addition to):

1.Open example WinRAR * .zip file,
2.Copy archive files to the computer that they want to edit
3.Modyfi them according to your tastes and windows winrar and paste again.

If you want to unpack and be sure to re-pack, it is the only program that can deal with it on the windows you are "7zip" or "IZArc", but not always ..

If someone is already in use WinRar - at most 3.92 version - or earlier.

    Principle II.

Under Win_XP not have to use WinRAR.
So it is built into the system.
Just open zip files as regular files (double click) and you can easily edit their content.
The best double-click to open the zip folder, find the file, copy it to the desktop, at least open the file as a packet, edit, confirm to save the changes, and then copy the file (Windows overwrite the existing file edited, beautifully all gonna pack) and ready.

    Principle III.

To edit the file already extracted the best to use a good notebook - eg. Notepad ++.
The program allows coding and encoding conversion files (eg. With ANSI to Unicode and back), lets 'see' the invisible characters such. Enter or place, it shows each record in a separate and numbered line. Of course, the program can be anything - even Windows Notepad, but in simple programs to easily make a mistake - which are then very difficult to grasp.

Using the programs described above, you can edit and make changes to the file * .ini, * .txt, * .lang, *. voice.
This allows us to complete the missing file multimode.ini resolution - as I showed in topicu mentioned at the beginning, or eg. Change the content of the inscription on the keyboard, or the map, change the message that we hear from the speaker.

All programs are described in the topic can be found in the beautiful prepared by my Friend Cserrobi

    The Author's say's:

"We spent lot of time jailbreaking the IGO-Primo, so we decided to make a collection of programs you might need.

What we could, in translated it hungarian. We thought it could be useful for everyone, so we'd like to share it.

    100% own creation! "

Lamola & Cserrobi - Thx from all user's - great job.

The kit is in the form of "PORTABLE" so it does not require installation.

Oups you replied before I modified my message.

On the Newer North America maps, most gas stations are not identified by brand (just a generic icon) and since I get a big rebate from one specific gas company, I would like to identify their gas stations easily on the map while driving.

I do not have a database of their gas stations locations so I was just trying to find a way to plug in the icon just for that gas company without too much trouble.

    I am on Nextgen.

I was trying to use a Nextgen branding.zip file with European gas stations on it to see if I can learn how to do it. I just found a software to see the content of the poi.icons file and realized that it does not have icons in it. They are in a weird Bmp file format.

I tried it before posting here and iPAQ 31x refused to run on my Win10 64B system. It crashes as soon as I launch it.

    Update....

The version provided in post #3 does not work. i found a version from the creator at rc-dev and it works.

Thanks Cserrobi for pointing me in the right direction. Now that I can read poi.icons file and can create Bmp compatible file, I will try to figure out how to create the branding file.

If I have more questions, I know where to come...

In case, you did not see my previous updated message, I repost my findings.

The version provided in post #3 does not work with Win10 64B. i found the same version from the creator at rc-dev and it works and the footprint is much smaller too.

Thanks Cserrobi for pointing me in the right direction. Now that I can read poi.icons file and can create Bmp compatible file, I will try to figure out how to create the branding file.

If I have more questions, I know where to come...
