    iGo for android does not have music player. However, you can use any android music player and the music would fade out when iGo makes announcements.

    @Kamoteka. Thanks I checked it out, the music cuts out when iGo makes an announcement, I can live with that!!.

    Totally different question: I am trying to get the TTS working -- my understanding is that I need to add the "csv_sound_enabled=1" and add a TTS capable .zip file in content/voice folder. Is that all I need to do, or is there something else? I tried with a Loquendo file as well as a Nuance(v5) file, with both of them, I get garbage spoken out for street names. The voice says the other parts of the speech correctly, but the street name is totally bogus. Like it will say "turn right on less than ampersand some unintelligble words greater than" -- seems to be reading out some kind of a xml tag rather than the street name itself. Any idea what I am doing wrong, and how I can fix the issue?

    Thanks!!

    Sounds like you have a bad voice zip file, I've had that before. Try this one.

    @booce: Thanks that seems to have been the problem. With your voice file, the announcements are done perfectly!!.

    The funny part is that I am using the voice on android, and all of the suggestions for android TTS is to take the info.ini file and modify a line in to say "tts_engine=android". Oddly enough with your voice.zip file, I did not change the line and it still works!!. In hindsight I think my editing of the voice file might have caused the corrupt voice.zip file. I now recall some suggestions from a few years back that we should use winzip or 7zip to modify the zip file for iGO. I just used the windows built in zip functionality, and I suspect that may have caused the corruption.

    Other things I did differently was change to the TTS language to English UK (I am using Google TTS engine), and used the default voice (Google recently released a high quality voice, that I was using previously).

    It certainly sounds like you know your way around Igo! you were doing all the right things but the problem you had comes down to some bad formatting inside one of the files in the voice.zip, dictionary.voice. I went through manually fixing it when it happened to me, took hours! Much easier to just replace it with a working one. Glad it fixed it for you.

    Sorry, I've had a look through the dictionary file but I don't see an entry for road or RD. You should be able to find the US voice file somewhere here on this site. Sorry I can't be more help.

    in the dictionary of voice file are many entries with road
    see here
    Exit="Exit"
    Expressway, %s.="Expressway, %s."
    External power connected.="External power connected."
    External power disconnected.="External power disconnected.."
    External Programs="External Programs"
    Extra lane for overtaking="Extra lane for passing."
    Extra lane on the left for overtaking="Extra lane on the left for passing."
    Extra lane on the right for overtaking="Extra lane on the right for passing."
    Falling rocks="Falling rocks."
    Favourites="Favorites"
    Find Places="Find Places"
    Find="Find"
    Fire extinguisher required.="Fire extinguisher required."
    Fire station,="Fire station,"
    Fire Station="Fire Station."
    First aid kit required.="First aid kit required."
    from %s="from %s"
    Give way,="Yield,"
    Give way="Yield."
    GPS Info="GPS Info"
    Hazardous road ahead.="Hazardous road ahead."
    Hazardous road passed.="Hazardous road passed."

    I think it will be better when you Change in the second Phrase ROAD in ROUD - or place a H in it too - as sample - RHOUD; maybe it will then speak this word better - I have Change my file in this Kind and now I am satisfied!
    Maybe it will help

    travelling on a highway, it pronounce something like: take exit 43 to "susieq r d"
    while a little later, it pronounce something like: turn left onto "johnsmith road"
    strange isn't. so the map is passing two different form of exit, one with the word "road" and one with the abbreviation "rd". what do i look for to change "rd" to "road"?
